If he had tried to smuggle this one in, internally, he might have gotten away with it:

So was the handgun already "holstered" while the guy was walking around, or did he somehow manage that feat while in the squad? And unless he was wearing a kilt - I will go out on a limb in assuming he's not on some sort of Gwinnett County bagpipe and drum corps - how on earth could he...
Maybe I really don't want to know.

I haven't seen a tear gas pen in years... let alone a "conversion."
To: edskid
Well, I wouldn't want to fire that thing. You might break a finger, but it would be an effective close-range weapon, I suppose, and could be easily smuggled internally.
I once build a .25 caliber single shot that was only three inches long, and built out of parts I picked up in a hardware store in less than 10 minutes. Crude, but deadly. I fired it once, then disassembled it. It was done on a bet from some guy that said I couldn't do it.

Here's a .22 cal pen gun, that is, apparently, actually available in some way:

The "butt gun" is for defending yourself against the ever dangerous and aggressive "butt pirates"! Now he's vulnerable to their wiley ways.

They wouldn't be hard to turn out, but would still require lots more effort than the old car antenna zip guns. When I was a kid, the local "cop shop" had a display of home-made weapons they had confiscated, and I always enjoyed looking over the better ones just to see how they worked (more fascinating but impractical information that has not come in handy so far). Nowdays, they'd probably shoo me out or call my folks.

Those aren't, I don't think, but there is one legal pen gun. It folds, and won't fire until it is folded into the shape of a pistol. Let me see if I can find a photo:

oh well then...relatively easy to carry around with you, but at least whoever you shoot will KNOW they are about to be shot...
lol...just sounds funny that it having the basic shape of an actual gun makes it legal...hehe. Still would be a nifty thing to have!
It looks antique-y. Do they still make them?

Yep, some things are just TMI. I am certain detailed knowledge of this incident is one of them.
To: Vigilantcitizen
...said sheriff's spokeswoman Stacey Kelley. "I don't now how he was able to conceal the weapon in that area. It is very unusual." Big guy was he? A plumber maybe?
