Female Member of NC-Based Guard Unit Demoted for Mud-Wrestling Party in Iraq By Martha Waggoner Associated Press Writer
RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - A female member of a National Guard military police unit was demoted for indecent exposure after a mud-wrestling party at the Army-run Camp Bucca detention center in Iraq, a military spokesman said Sunday.
The party occurred Oct. 30, as the 160th Military Police Battalion, an Army Reserve Unit from Tallahassee, Fla., prepared to turn over its duties to the Asheville-based 105th Military Police Battalion, said Lt. Col. Barry Johnson, spokesman for detainee operations at Camp Bucca.
In the course of the transfer of duties, "some individuals in their exuberance decided to put together a mud-wrestling thing," Johnson said Sunday by telephone. "There were females involved, and some members of the 105th also became involved, one female soldier in particular."
Following an inquiry, that soldier was demoted and placed on restriction for participating in the event, specifically for indecent exposure, he said.
Four or five other members of the 105th who were spectators received counseling, Johnson said.
No pics?
Is it my imagination or is there something seriously wrong with the demonstrated reasoning abilities of members of Army reserve and national guard military police units?
Where are the pics??????
On the other thread about this story.
Asheville - my home town. NC in the news again...
I would have just said that it was a "wardrobe malfunction" and stuck with that.
more women in the military...yea, thats the ticket...
What on earth did this girl do to be the only person popped for this party? There had to be more participants.
so how 'indecent' was this?
more women and less clothing???
NC pingers! :)
lol
Why was only one person singled out. She was not wrestling herself.
Maybe she was wearing a thong/bikini and everyone else was in shorts and Tshirts....
need to know whether her behavior or state of undress was different than anyone else first before you jump to conclusions.
My thoughts exactly. Considering the Abu Ghraib debacle involving Army Reservists, you would think that the leadership of at least one of these organizations would have actually exercised some (leadership).
KINDLY do not compare these Reservists with the Army National Guard.
The Guardsmen have been pulling more and more duty than the Reserves could ever fantasize about, and doing it with far greater professionalism, thank you very much.
There's a reason that the Guard gets more than the share of the Force Protection missions - you're seeing it now.
I have the utmost respect for the active duty security police units and military police units, but the reservists and guardsmen I have seen lately seem to be at best Barney Fife types and at worst, well, rent-a-cops that no real police department would hire.
I would prefer they find other ways to wind down but that said our military isn't training Barbie dolls but soldiers and I can see them getting rowdy sometimes. Hopefully she will use better judgement next time and get her rank back soon but she is over there fighting for me and mine so it's hard to do too much beating her up.
I think she was either the girl who decided to expose her chest to the camera or she was the girl who mooned her thong at the camera.
(Two different girls.)
On the other thread, it was stated that someone exposed their boobs. This may be the one.
LOL! It's funny that that has to be clarified. I find it odd that no mention of their state of undress WAS mentioned. However the mom says: "It was just a thing where she was coerced by a bunch of people, and with all the excitement, she lost her sanity for a moment and that's all it took," she said."
She was the only one who lost her sanity apparently. What does that mean?
BFD
Had it been cherry jello, I would have considered this Conduct Becoming.
Oh my! Well... no comment.
My home town, too. It was on the front of the Mountains section today so I'm sure a lot of people saw it. Nothing to be proud of, for sure.
did she wrestle herself?
Let me enlighten you...
Many Guardsmen with the 95B MOS (Military Police, since you probably don't know it), are full-time State Troopers or County Deputy Sherrifs. Several I personally know also serve on the Counter-Drug task forces in their municipalities. So your opinion is at kindest, ill-informed.
I've shared this with a few Guardsmen and Big Army types.
Nice rack from what little I can see.
My thoughts exactly. Considering the Abu Ghraib debacle involving Army Reservists, you would think that the leadership of at least one of these organizations would have actually exercised some (leadership).
BS. My brother, an Army Reservist served WITH HONOR in Iraq. You cannot draw a broad brush conclusion like that. YOu're listening to the MSM TOO MUCH!!!
Another bash the Guard thread...and people wonder why this behavior is unacceptable.
And what sucks the most about when people do this is that the Guard and Reserve families have the hardest time while their loved one is away. Bash from the left, bash from the right.
Well, actually,...ummm...... Yes. She did.
Not, only that, but the whole Guard takes a hit, especially with people on FR.
"but the reservists and guardsmen I have seen lately seem to be at best Barney Fife types and at worst, well, rent-a-cops that no real police department would hire."
Anyone saying that to my old unit would have been picking their eyes nose and teeth off the ground.
But it's so FASHIONABLE to trash the Guard/Reserves - after all, it's not like they're REAL soldiers, now are they? They're not Special Forces, nor Delta, and I bet they haven't even MET Chuck Norris!! They CAN'T be real soldiers!
(/sarcasm BARELY off)
"I stand by what I wrote."
And you are dead wrong.
"The record of the guard and reserve military police units called up has been less than stellar."
And I challenge you to show proof for your broad brush smear against all the aforementioned units.
Were the mud wrestlers that bad?
My thoughts, exactly.
Well, let me say something about my hubby's Guard AVN unit....they out flew, out performed and even repaired the so-called regular Army's choppers...and were so acknowledge for their performance in Iraq...
You sure are living up to your name.
While I appreciate your attempt to insult me, honest I am honored, you have teh burden of proof to prove that all the MP units are what you say they are.
Understand, ALL MP units.
You are smearing all MP units.
"I admire your loyalty to your unit ... but I would rather you showed more loyalty to the US Army and the Department of Defense. "
Come on, you can insult better than that.
I'm assuming there's a "wink-wink" involved here...
Hey -- let the kids play! It helps them blow off steam in between getting shot at and car bomb threats.
And I stand by what I write. So you've got ten years longevity on me, so you claim. BFD.
940th MP BN, KYARNG, 95B's with over 50% of their ranks on the KSP rosters (And no, since I don't work at MILPO, I don't have percentages);
223rd MP Company, KYARNG, well over three-fourths on the municipal roles.
My own unit has four State and local troopers, all who do ADSW on JSO.
And I'll thank you not to question my integrity - yours is already there.
Don't reply again. I won't answer.
How about knocking off the personal insults?
