President Bush left the White House this morning to visit the great state of Michigan to address the Detroit Economic Club, giving remarks about his budget, tax reform, job training, confronting problems and finding solutions now, and sharing his boundless optimism about the U.S. economy, before returning to the Whitehouse this afternoon. He then spoke at the Black History Month celebration in the East Room at the White House.

First Lady Laura Bush went to George Washington Elementary School in Baltimore, MD to promote the new White House initiative to keep young boys from drugs, sex and violence, and also returned to the White House to be with the President at the Black History Month celebration.

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice gave her first official speech and press conference today at the Paris Science Politique Institute in France and met with Jacque Chirac.

With the President's approval numbers at 57%, it is a GREAT day to be a BushBot, so enjoy your trip to Sanity Island on the Daily Dose!

The play book on politics says that when an opponent president offers sweeping changes in order to fix major problems the proper response of the opposition is to offer alternative plans to the presidents. That makes the situation a choice between the Republican and Democratic plans to fix the situation.

But what does a party do that can't come close to agreeing on an alternative plan? There is nothing left to do but trash the presidents plan. That is the Democrats dilemma. If Reid or Pelosi propose an alternative plan, many democrats will oppose it no matter what Reid and Pelosi proposed.

The Democratic party is a fragmented party made of of groups with divergent needs and desires. It is a bad situation. If Reid or Pelosi proposed what some democrats want to do, there are other democrats who would be adamently against the proposal. The Democrats disagree on what to do about todays problems. The only thing they agree on is they don't like George Bush.

Thus the Democratic leaders are reduced to the failed stratety of trashing Bush.

The democrats are like a football team where half the offensive starters will only play if the Quarterback tries to pass the ball and the other half of the offense will only play if the quarterback tries to run the ball. The quarterback knows that if he tries a pass he will get sacked for a big loss. If he tries to run the halfback will get hit for a big loss behind the line of scrimage. So the only thing the quarte back can do is give the ball to the other side and have the defense come on the field. The most such a footballteam could hope for a is a scoreless tie. That is very much like the situation the Democratic leadership faces.

The Democrats are fragmented and in disarray. The only thing they can agree on is they don't like Republicans. So the only thing their leaders can do to avoid being trashed by members of their own party, is trash George W. Bush.

It ia a failed policy.. But it is the only policy the Democrats can have.

I often post about the Bush strategy of divide and conquer. The Democrats are already divided.. All that remains is to conquer them.

He's not lefthanded. His Dad is.

Maybe that explains my muddle on this.

%%%%%

W is the first president in a while to be right-handed. His father, Reagan and x42 were all left-handed. Since I am a lefty, and sensitive to this attribute, I worried in 2000 that Gore might win if he was left-handed -- You know - streaks, curses, precedent, whatever!

Yes more like crepes than your pancakes as they do not have baking soda or similar in them. Though they do not taste like what I have had as crepes maybe we English cook them in slightly different oil or hotter oil or maybe our flour is different to the French.

The english recipe is

They said in Germany, that it was like a movie star when she came, paparazzi-like flash bulbs popping all over the place.

It's extra fun to have this high class, brilliant, warm and sweet, but tough as nails woman representing us, because the Europeans are so absolutely ignorant in their perception that our President is a bullheaded cowboy dimbulb.

Condi wipes that perception right off the map (or at least confuses their addled brains), and it's a beautiful thing!

He will know that when his "charge to keep" has been kept, and God and the calendar release him, there remains yet a blessing to be given to the Oval Office for the sake of America.

I am praying God sends a man of peace to fill his shoes.

Amen, Gretchen! I think we ALL need to be praying for a Godly man to succeed our "W".

Oh........and about Condi.......see my above post to Water Dragon. It was meant for you too.

I've missed some of your conversation about your health, but I ended up having sinus surgery after 13 weeks of an infection that wouldn't go away, fever, headaches, fatigue.

That was almost 10 years ago, and I haven't had nearly the problems since, only one infection, and just my usual living in Ohio sinus stuff.

Hang in there, ilovew! Don't let your parents get you down.

They probably didn't think you were serious when you were talking about it, so didn't say anything . . . then when you started filling out paperwork they knew you were serious about it.

My FIL is like that . . . we talked and talked and talked about moving and he didn't take us seriously till the house was actually ordered, then he started raising heck about it. But guess what? He adjusted--or at least shut up about it.

Your parents will come around; just hang in there! You're doing what's best for you.

I very much doubt Dr. Rice's handshake is of the wet noodle variety. There is a 'lady way' and a 'gentleman way' of handshaking. Neither are wet noodle. Those who have gone through OCS were taught both, and to expect both.

On the other hand (no pun intended - well, kind of) I've shaken hands with both men and women of the limpid variety. It drives me nuts.

It was on one of the weekend biography shows--could have been MSNBC or on FOX. I would have taped it but didn't know to expect that at the end. They had the same bio show on previously, but at the end added the part about the election. So I don't think it's on FOX coverage, at least I hadn't seen it before it was tacked on the end of that program. Good luck--hope you find it somewhere. It's worth it!

Or maybe check the schedule of FOX and MSNBC for their weekend shows--I can't rem. just what they're called right now--People in the News I think is one of them.

Good luck!

This is a picture of what Americans usually think of as pancakes. (It's making me slightly hungry because I haven't eaten anything yet today - have a head cold.)
