All Things Considered, February 9, 2005 · A reporter for the conservative news site TalonNews.com resigns. The reporter, who went by the pseudonym Jeff Gannon, drew critical attention at President Bush's Jan. 26 press conference when he referred in question to Democrats "who seem to have divorced themselves from reality" on the issue of retooling Social Security.
Liberal bloggers have disclosed that Gannon, who has little previous journalism experience, was easily granted a coveted White House press pass -- even though he did not work for a traditional or established news organization. He also routinely asked "softball" questions at press conferences. There are also allegations that Gannon is linked to Web sites with homoerotic themes.
Gannon spoke with NPR's David Folkenflik the day before he resigned. He says he is open about his conservative point of view, but that he is just as valid a journalist as other reporters in the White House press corps.
And from what I've been reading today, that includes many here at FR, and that upsets me.
If you are out of the news business, I hope someday you'll get back in.
I've been out of it in the sense of having a job in a news department for more years than I care to think about, but I still do some "topic" stuff of occassion for a couple of websites.
I've considered really going back, I really have, but the hours can be truly grueling and I have a 6 year old.
We need honest journalists, right now it is one of the most disgusting, dishonest, and damaging industries in America.

OLBERMAN tries to pass his show as a news show.
But it simply is not.
Tonight he tried to claim that they searched Talon News site and all Gannon articles had been removed.
ONE BIG PROBLEM...THERE IS NO SEARCH OPTION ON TALONNEWS.COM!
I tried to search there a couple of months ago...and there was no way to do it.
I just checked.....still...NO SEARCH OPTION.

I know.....but what is annoying me is that there are FReepers going along with the likes of Slaughter even when there is no verification of what the good congresscritter is claiming.
I've called him Jerry Rivers ever since he was a local reporter on the NYC ABC affiliate (now flagship station) back in the 70s!!!! Long before internet urban legends.

The Center for Media and Public Affairs has posted Geraldo Rivera's attack on Baltimore Sun TV critic David Folkenflik, who has questioned the Fox New Channel correspondent's reporting. Rivera claims Folkenflik's reporting had been ''bloated beyond the worst tabloid excess'' and says the Baltimore newsman apparently never ''had the courage to put himself in harm's way.'' Sun editor William Marimow describes himself to Mark Jurkowitz as an old friend of Rivera's, but adds: ''I'm unwilling to continue to be diplomatic. To me it's a mistake on Geraldo's part to make this a crusade. ... He screwed up big time and David Folkenflik merely reported the news. The time has come to say, 'enough.'"

His name is probably Jeff Gannon.
Keep in mind...Editor and Publisher refered to "investigators at DailyKos"
Translation....they are no more than readers of that blog who post there.
E&P saw that on a post and decided to quote it as what "investigators" found

The irony is that quite a few of the Internet types are behaving like they just bumbled their way onto the Internet this month. No rumor or speculation is too far-fetched for the left.
They can't and make it up fast enough, and they have an audience of nitwits who buy the gobbledegook, hook, line and $inker.

There are a couple of lefties on a couple of other sites I used to frequent on a regular basis that just can't seem to get enough of me, and since I rarely post on those sites anymore they've taken to lurking and taking my posts from here and posting them to the other sites. Of course they are all taken totally out of context.
In my case I just laugh about it and make fun of them here........but in other cases it could become very nasty.
