'Fearless' Ashlee Simpson vocalizes for first solo tour ( should read 'heedless')

NEW YORK -- Ashlee Simpson is amped about her upcoming tour -- but doesn't want to talk about her embarrassing ''Saturday Night Live'' or Orange Bowl appearances.

Simpson turned up Monday at the Cosmopolitan Fun Fearless Male Awards in New York.

''It's really stripped down,'' she said about her first solo tour, which comes to the Rosemont Theatre on March 6. ''There's no pyro[technics] or anything like that. The stage has a mud kind of feel, you know, black and white. The thing about my tour is it's going to be me and my bad getting out there and having fun.''

Of course. But will there be costume changes?

''Little ones here and there,'' said Simpson. ''I'll be taking off jackets and that kind of stuff.''

The 20-year-old pop star was unsure about why Cosmo, in its February issue, picked her as the Fun Fearless Female of the Year .

''Oh, wow. I don't know,'' said Jessica Simpson's little sis. ''I love to have a great time. I'm not really scared of many things at all. I've been that way since I was a little girl.''

In other concert news:

*Lenny Kravitz announced a 27-date North American tour that arrives at the Congress Theatre on May 1.

*Oasis plans to play the UIC Pavilion with Jet on June 20 as part of its first U.S. tour in three years. Tickets go on sale Saturday.

*The "One Tree Hill" tour, featuring music from the hit WB series, puts down roots at the House of Blues on March 30. On the bill: Tyler Hilton from the show's cast and Michelle Branch with her band the Wreckers. Tickets go on sale Saturday.

Desperate to be a "star" at any cost. This talentless pop-tart is going to drag her "career" on for years, I can see it now.

Thanks. Another FReeper (I forget who) said it in a response. I appropriated it with his/her permission.

Fearless? Is that because she has finally figured out how to lip sync without getting caught?

I like her a lot better than her ditzy sister and her edible cosmetics and irritating husband. Jeez.

At least she has a couple of good songs with Autobiography and Shadows.

Send her to audition for 'American Idol.' I doubt she could make it past the first round. Let that guy, Simon, explain why hitting the right notes is important...And then I wouldn't go to a Clay Aitkens show is it was free.
