DEAN'S MOUTHY DEBUT
NRO ^ | Feb 13 2005 | Tim Graham

Posted on 02/13/2005 9:28:50 AM PST by Dog

For those of you just waiting for Howard Dean to start making gaffes, see the Saturday Washington Post account of his tour through the party's special-interest caucuses. I'm somewhat shocked the Post publicized this little tour. For pure, unadulterated Dean, you get this: "You are among the most persecuted people in the history of mankind," Dean tells his first audience, the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Caucus. Let's hope the African-American caucus didn't hear that. (Not to mention anyone who remembers the Holocaust, the Huguenots, throwing Christians to the lions...)

As for what Dean said to the black caucus, he kicks the GOP in the groin. "He surveys the crowd of 150 crammed into the room. 'You think the RNC could get this many people of color into a single room?' he marvels. 'Maybe if they got the hotel staff in there.'"

It's also somewhat entertaining to read Dean trying to adopt spin control about the party's ultraliberalism. http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story2&u=/ap/20050213/ap_on_el_ge/democrats

Dean says that no one is "pro-abortion," but "we are the party in favor of allowing women to make up their own minds about their health care." And Democrats are not for "gay marriage," but "we are the party that has always believed in equal rights under the law for all people." Voters are smart enough to know that the Democrats are staunch defenders of abortion and homosexuality, whatever rhetorical embroidery Dean attempts. How he will help in red states with this kind of talk is a mystery. Posted at 08:48 AM

...I wonder how the new "centrist" schrillary is taking all this...

I'm thinking that this is EXACTLY the Dems plan. Sort of "good cop-bad cop" thing.

Have Dean out there on the extreme and have Hitlery spout centrist themes. It'll make her look less extreme.

Racism at its finest.

Republican leadership should pounce all over this and keep doing it for the next four years. Why didn't Howard just say, "We've got you and we think we'lll have you forever, no matter how insulting I am to you."

The line about hotel staff, had it been said by Ken Mehlman, would be considered condescending and racist.

Our leadership, I think gets it now. I thuink they are going to be much more active in pursuing black voters. I don't think the right message is, hey vote for us so you can have a bigger voice, though. I think we have to be very active in showing black America why Republicans have their best interests in mind.

1) The elimination of the estate tax.
(There are many black millionaires who busterd their asses against significant odds to achieve their success. They don't want the government taking so much off the top on money that has already been taxed.)

2) An unwillingness to separate people by skin color as a means of determining qualifications
(True equallity for ALL = no affirmative action...and not in 20 years Sandra Day...NOW)

3) Giving parents a choice in their kids education.
(The Democrats solution of spending more money is clearly a failure. Once again, GWB is thinking outside the box, and once again, his vision is too beneficial to blacks for Democrats to be able to support. Why? Becuase if they did, they would acknowledge that the Republicans truly care more, and not just about keeping a voting bloc. The Democrats may have been the party for blacks in the past, be we are their party for the future.)

That's just a starter list. Please add on. We have to better than 10-12% in 2008. We have to. The only way we can do that is by getting our message out and by giving our leaders ideas. Granted, I don't think I've presented any new ideas here, but we have to have the conversation. We can't just say ppick us so you have more of a voice anymore. It didn't work last year. It won't work in 2008.

Besides, if we gain the confidence and trust of black voters, it will be the end of the Democrats.

You may have noticed that the Dem strategists are trying very hard to say that people don't vote for them based on who their leader is:-)

They're worried about how much Dean is going to embarrass the party, IMO.

Strange, I seem to recall reading something about the Democrats advocating something known as slavery, and having high-ranking members that were involved in the Ku Klux Klan. My mind must be playing tricks on me...YEEEEEEAAHHHH!

Sam I can't figure this out....why would they allow this hothead to be their figurehead......there has to be something going on here we aren't privy to.

After 2 years of the Deanie Weenie, Hillary will be made to look like a moderate, which will allow her to try and repeat what Bill did - appear to be a middle/right candidate

My jaw just hit the floor. What makes him so sure the hotel staff is populated with black people?

How he ascended: Dean promised each state rep that pushed him for DNC chair more money and promises the Internet is his personal cash cow to raise DNC funds.

Theory 101A: Clintons allow him to raise the cash until it's time for Hillary to knock him off the stage over one of his many foot in mouth moments. Hillary says Dean should step down for the good of the party.

She keeps the money, decides new DNC chair and "Pretty in Pink, bake ya cookies, Chameleon Conservative" Hillary Clinton is crowned DNC candidate '08.

It is primarily a fund raising job. You don't raise money by trying to convert the other side. You raise money by firing up your base. In the case of the Democrats, their base is the looney far left.

Dean and Hillary are for and against every issue. They nuance their words to trick fools. Kerry did this and lost! Dean does this by screaming, Hillary does it by softness. Both are evil liars!
