Lieutenant Commander Adolph Dubs ,United States Navy Foreign Service Officer(1920-1979) of Maryland. Born in Chicago, Illinois, August 4, 1920. Served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II; U.S. Ambassador to Afghanistan, 1978-79. Assassinated in Afghanistan, February 14, 1979. Interment at Arlington National Cemetery.
Another example of how our gov't ignore the Islamofacist threat for so many years.
May he rest in peace.
Interestingly enough, I acquired an autographed letter from the Ambassador written not long before his assassination. In it, he highly praised and urged the person he was writing to on the positive aspects of a career in the diplomatic corps. Long may the Ambassador rest in peace.
I read somewhere he was murdered in the presence of either the Soviet ambassador or a KGB type (or both).
