Prayers needed

Posted on 02/16/2005 6:24:36 PM PST by MamaB

Hello everyone, As some of you know, we lost our younger daughter on January 15,2004 due to complications of Crohn's Disease. I have known since then that I was going to have a mission of some sort.

I belong to a support group on the internet. I have been reading the many letters of despair, of people loosing faith in God due to the loss of a child, and of people all over the country simply needing help. There was one message that really touched me and I knew right then that I had to do something to help these hurting people.

After I read that message, I sent a post saying that if some of the members would send me their stories, I would try to put them together for all of us. What I did not expect, however, was the response. I have a stack of emails, poems, etc about 4 inches thick that I need to do something with. My husband said to put them on a CD and that way the cost would be very low since I am not adding any fee for all of my printing, etc.

What I need your help with are prayers on how to organize these messages I have received. I have never done anything like this before so need all of the prayers I can get. How do I organize these? I think I am going to be very busy over the next few weeks! Don't y'all think so?

Any suggestions are welcomed!

Sounds like you've undertaken quite a task. While I don't have much by the way of suggestions, I will pray that you find the guidance you seek.

Just start at the beginning, take it slow, and do the best you can.

I have prayed for all of you.

God bless you.

Are you going to distribute these CD's to everyone, I think it would be much easier to distibute over the internet.

You could also organize by the type of tragedy so that those with similar experiences can get together.

Well, sort of a pedestrian suggestion, but a Powerpoint of all of them as graphics might work well. You could burn it to the CD as a Powerpoint show. You could have it go from one slide to the next automatically. You would have to scan whatever isn't in electronic format already. Good luck & prayers; it sounds like a wonderful thing you are doing.

Any assistance I can be, please ask!!
I think a CD of "Messages From Home" would be a very sweet show of support, remembrance, tribute and prayer.

Just a suggestion but perhaps an html format- a table of contents/outline format with links to sections, and within those sections, the individual items.
You could divide up by type of material- poem, prayer, story, artwork etc.

The html format makes it easy to navigate, just like a webpage, and is better than just a big long list or slide presentation. Plus everyone with a computer has a webbrowser so no need for extra software.

Start a web site. It's easy to learn, inexpensive, easier to maintain & update, and easily accessable to many people. There is free web-hosting (or a very minimal cost abt $5 month) and the web building software is fun to use. I did it for my geneaology stuff, you can too.

I just wanted to add that one of those free "wysiwyg" html editors would make the job easy. CoffeeCup software has a real good easy one for free I think.
I'll look into it.
Probably the hardest/most tedious part will be transcribing and/or scanning what's been sent to you. If you need a hand with that let me know.
