You do know that Tancredo has split the Republican Party and made MEChA more powerful.

You do realize that on the immigration issue they are in perfect harmony and that both parties realize that mass migration helps America overcome, well let us say its past difficulties in realizing its mission to create a society dedicated to the principle enunciated in the Declaration of Independence, "All men are created equal." The Bush administration must think MeCha is on track because do you ever hear them criticize MeCha or LaRaza? Where as the purported xenophobe (as many posters describe as) Tom Tancredo is in disfavor of the Bush administration.

What I do know is that you refuse to answer questions and that you also support a group that has called for the overthrow of the US government in the west and the return of those western lands to Mexico.

I do expect the Bush administration to then distance themselves from MeCha as they have Tancredo. Personally I cannot see why any politician would not want some space between themselves and Mecha. Perhaps you could explain the tardiness or laxness the Bush admin has in distancing themselves from them. Besides lighten up with the personal attacks as you see I have come to see the light on immigration. Please explain

I'm a republican. A Bush Republican.

I think that it is very unfortunate that the left is calling the shots on immigration reform. Thank you Tom Tancredo.

Can you say "earned legalization"? "Path to Citizenship"?

Maybe because MEChA is a FRINGE organization who believes the Gadsen Purchase & the Mexican-American War were both thefts from Mexico.

Free advice: Google Bustamente AND MEChA or better still go to these posts by Stefan Sharkansky of Sound Politics on his personal blog "Shark Blog". Well worth your time.

When the student editors saw the piece by Pownell, the lone conservative voice on a staff of self-described liberals, they anticipated a possible backlash, but decided to publish it in the interest of presenting a range of viewpoints.

Sarcasm>>That's mighty white of them.

"come to realize mass migration from not just Mexico but the entire world will help our nation greatly"

Tell me, how does illegal immigration "help our nation". Other than sending it financially down the drain along with the rest of us who pay taxes to keep this great country going. I remind you this article was only against "illegal" immigration.

The Bush plan will make this mass migration legal hence we should all support this proposal as it abides by the rule of law principle. Plus the plan could possibly net us more immigrants than what we are currently receiving, and that will enrich us beyond what immigrants are already doing for this greatest of great countries. We could take what is called illegal immigration today and with the proper laws turn it into legal immigration a win win situation for us. Because as of now anyone not in a nearby country risks a huge deal with being sent back, but with the Bush plan millions of people from countries that are at a distance can feel secure in immigrating to our shores. The distant countries of Asia, Africa and Europe (hopefully New Europe) will be able to send us millions upon millions of hard working immigrants and these people will not have to fear deportation. Support the Bush plan it serves the greatest of causes, Freedom.

It's called enforcement of federal immigration laws. To include to deportation of all illegal immigrants to their native country. Then require them to legally apply for entrance to this country which includes a proper background check for criminal history and a medical exam for diseases. If these people had come here legally in the first place, they would not be forced to suffer any 'hardships.'

America has five major problems: Muslim terrorist immigrants, black urban terrorists(called criminals),Mexican illegal immigrants, leftist anti-American professors and leftist anti-American journalists. It is that simple. All five have the same solution. Interested in details?

That's a short list. I didn't just fall off the spud truck.:o)

Thank you for posting the actual article. It as certainly mild toned and moderate ideologically. Were I to write a piece for that student paper, it would be somewhat more strident, and a lot more negative to the very concept of any major new immigration, legal or illegal. It would also unashamedly identify with the mainline, Caucasian stock of Americans.

It is absolutely ridiculous that anyone would cast aspersions on a student who simply wrote what he considered to be in the legitimate interest of his native land and his own people. The Left, in their madness, emboldened by the intellectual eunuchs in Washington who are afraid to identify with even their own history, have crossed one line too many in such efforts to intimidate any dissent. Maybe I will test the waters, and send something on immigration to the Sun. Perhaps Immigration & The American Future. Do you have an address?

>>I'd like to read what he said.<< Abusive fliers posted on newspaper's door http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/metro/20050219-9999-2m19sun.html When student journalists showed up at the Sun office on the morning of the forum, the door was plastered with fliers. But MEChA faculty adviser Margarita Andrade-Robledo was won over by Branscomb's defense of freedom of the press.

"I don't like the article, but the First Amendment gives them that right" to publish it, she concluded.

Because Andrade-Robledo would not support the club in continuing to call for a retraction and an apology, the MEChA board ousted her as adviser.

And we are expected to welcome people who espouse such anti-American values as MEChA? Who would want social parasites like this in our country who have no respect for the US Constitution and the fundamental rights it affirms for it's citizens?

These people should be hunted down, captured, and deported back to their own country. Let them stand in line outside the American Embassy and apply for US citizenship like legal immigrants have been doing for over two centuries.
