know the difference between a feeding tube and a respirator.
know a feeding tube is not a machine, it is, however, an implement or a tool.
understand when a feeding tube is removed, death is slow, by thirst, not starvation. That's not a pleasant fate.
consider the possibility she may be in excruciating pain without the ability to communicate those feelings to those around her.
have also been personally closer to a SIMILIAR medical condition than hopefully 99% of you will ever be.
There's also supposed to be a component of compassion to Christianity but I guess that's not as much fun as being judgemental considering the fate of a patient. There is short term suffering for eternal reward.
I shouldn't expect people to consider that either.

I see your point, but you have to admit one thing. Since food and water wasn't considered life support at the time Terri allegedly made her remarks, she certainly couldn't have given informed consent to it, which is what is required for living wills. In the absence of a living will, why should informed consent not matter even more strongly?

I guess the main point is that none of us know Terri's intent, if any. We do have her husband's testimony, which is suspicious, but it's the only evidence we have.

But it doesn't matter whether Michael is lying, unless Terri had specifically stated that she wanted to be kept alive in such a situation.

Michael is the guardian, and he gets to make decisions for her and we know which decision he's made. The ONLY way to defeat his wishes is to remove him as guardian. And that's the weakest part of his case and why he's fought that the hardest.

Michael is the presumptive guardian. He is her husband and that trumps parental rights in every state. In order to remove him as guardian, it's probably going to take a showing that he's incompetent, something that seems impossible under the current facts.

The folks who believe that he broke a lot of her bones before this incident could remove that guardianship if they could prove it, but that's an impossible task.

In my opinion, Michael holds the winning cards in the legal battle. Hopefully something new will transpire to change those legal odds.

I wish the Schindler family would make a show the next time they go to the hospice by being surrounded by a phalanx of huge bruly bodyguards in dark sunglasses .. to just give Michael a new way of looking at them. Change the dynamic .. change the reaction.

In the absence of firm evidence of what she wanted, the immediate family (not parents) or guardian would get to make the decision, so it really doesn't legally help Terri at all. Michael's statements about her wishes add to the PR factor, but they don't really help the judge make his decision.

The fact that the judge claims to be reconsidering if Michael Schiavo is FIT to be guardian is a GREAT win--

but the battle is ongoing,...

He may very easily come back and say- "I have reviewed the files and I see no reason to change guardianship...

Now--

I know a Catholic wedding isn't important to Michael, and the proof for that is that if it were important to him, Terri's murder wouldn't be a factor. It's a ruse to what's really important to Michael. Control. Power. Money. Convenience.

they held up the case until they could get the legislation passed in 1999....
