This is a new terminology made up by those who are in the pro-death crowd. "Persistent Vegetative State", the diagnosis given to Terry, can be applied to just about anyone who has any sort of brain damage. Someone can be in a Persistent Vegetative State even if they can eat! In fact, most people in a "Persistent Vegetative State" recover within a year. Even people in a long-term "Persistent Vegetative State" have about a 10% recovery rate, and no studies have even been done that correlate treatment with recovery from "Persistent Vegetative States".
The whole term is just made up to make people feel better about pulling the plug on the disabled.
I don't know about you, but I don't want my husband deciding if I am allowed to live or I must die. That is the kind of decision one makes about property. In Muslim countries, women are property and their male relatives routinely kill them for all kinds of "crimes." Is this what we really need here?
He knows that if the Guardianship laws are enforced, Terri would have a chance because Micheal would be out of the picture.
I'm just curious what answers he gives to those that say he could be free of her, and all responsibilities by letting the parents take her.
You bring up an interesting point about there may have been some foul play, but he obviously can't use that as a reason for not letting go of her, so what does he use as an excuse for pursing this....other than this is what Terri would want.
I would like to see the N.Y. doctor that spoke out on the new research see Terri's videos and testify about what they are finding out.
If I'm not mistaken, Michael says he cares so much about Terris wishes that he is just doing what she wanted. When he says that, his nose grows.
This is very significant. And it reminds me of the flaw in the "heart attack" theory. She had such a vulnerable heart at 26? But no problems since? Same with the bones. If she had such vulnerable bones in 1990, then there should have been plenty more pathology in the years that followed. Bone diseases don't go away.
I'm sure he moved her to THAT Hospice because the woman who runs it is "one of them" and also a criminal. She has been investigated for misappropriating funds at least twice and maybe more. She is IN on this thing big time. And why not, she has no ethics and she is getting PAID by Medicaid!! That stinks to high heaven.
FYI, no amount of life support is going to keep alive the body of someone who is brain dead. A semblance of life might be maintained for a short period, but without the brain to direct vital processes, it's not going to last.
I have personally seen people with less ability to interact with the world than Terri. Steven Hawking comes to mind. I don't think we need to be killing people just because they can't communicate well. Or because they're retarded, or autistic, or have cerebral palsy or some other neuromuscular degenerative disorder. We lost too many people fighting the Nazis to now turn around and start to embrace their methods.

You know not what you are talking about. Courts, Lawyers, and Legislators have expanded the definition of brain death to open all kinds of doors to kill living people. Sadly, for death lovers like yourself, they haven't pinned that definition on Terri, yet.
dog Gone Schiavos Jury Award was SPECIFICALLY for Terri's Rehabilitation and care for a life expectancy of 50 years!! If your statement is correct about the food and water issue, then Schiaavo should be required TO RETURN THE JURY AWARD FUNDS!! They were ear marked for rehabilitation!

I almost whole-heartily agree. The whole idea of "brain death" is a misnomer - you are dead when you have irreversible cessation of breathing and heart beats. Until then, you are still alive know matter the doctors and lawyers tell you.
