My first Walkman for cassettes was a Sony. My CD player is presently a Sony. I see no need to change when it comes to MP3s.

The only thing Microsoft does well is make the simple complex.

That's what I'm always saying about my iMAC. I hate my iMAC more than anything I've ever owned.

Heh heh... you're way behind in the game, dude.

Talk is cheap, 'dude'. And talk is about all you've ever had.

So what are you saying here? That Windows OS is easier to use than Mac OS? Anybody who says that is nuts...

But here is a disqualifier ::Some poor souls have known only the Windows OS and when they're put on a Mac they are disoriented, but that's not because Windows is easier, it's only because Windows is all these poor souls have ever known.

Get over yourself. There are no absolutes. You like your Mac. Fine. Don't get your panties in a twist when somebody doesn't.

Maybe you're right. I'm going through a battery of MS certification tests right now and I'm not too happy about it. Maybe I won't post anymore till I'm all done with this MS b*llsh*t.

Bill Gates makes a fat profit from every Windows computer sold.

Buy a Windows P.C., help Bill Gates sell out America to Communist China.

STALEMATE

Wake up, Add925. Everyone knows that the dictators of Communist China are worse that the American Democrats. The ChiComs have nuclear missiles aimed at us - and Bill Gates is praising them.

By the way, Microsoft's political action committee contributed $3.1 million to election campaigns last year - 60 percent of it was given to Democrats.

IMHO Apple is, in the business sense, only slightly more ethical than Microsoft.

KUDOS to Apple for recognizing how solid FreeBSD is and using as the basis for OsX.
KUDOS to Apple for recognizing how powerful IBM CPU chips are and using them for the basis of their hardware.
KUDOS to Apple for putting really small disk drives in MP3 players.

Razzberries to Apple for having a closed system mentality and being the champion to DRM.

i personally would *NEVER* buy *ANY* hardware made by Apple or Microsoft because i do not trust the motives of either bill gates or steve jobs...

o.k. man. I'm sure computer scientists will get a kick out of reading the 'instruction manual' and getting out the toolkick to replace a battery. This link about how to change the battery makes it clear that Apple has made it as difficult as possible to do without sending it back to the factory and doling out a hundred bucks for Apple's expert technicians to change the battery.

That's not really fair. Up above, you praised iRiver, Creative, and Rio as being more flexible than iPod. While the Creative battery replacement looks fairly simple (which may influence my next DAP purchase), the iRiver's instructions from the same site are far more complicated than the iPod's: use a special screwdriver to disassemble the case, break the glue that holds the battery in place, disconnect and remove the hard drive, then completely remove the motherboard from the case, all just to access the battery's plug! (Suddenly I'm not all that keen on keeping my h140 forever, no matter how good Rockbox turns out to be. When the battery dies, I'll make sure the player gets a decent burial.) And Rio doesn't seem to have a battery replacement option at all.

I was talking about the firmware in terms of flexibility. yeah, creative's the only one with a decent battery. I'll probably go with Rio next. They are made by the same company that makes Denon stereos. I always thought Denon made the best stereos so I figure they'll pay attention to the way the rio sounds, which is the whole point after all.
