Full-blown war by Hmong gangs alarms police (Sacramento, CA)

......snip..........

A raging street war between two Hmong gangs has left three dead since Thanksgiving and spread hundreds of rounds of ammunition throughout Sacramento. In response, gang detectives have more than doubled their presence on the streets, to as many as 30 some nights. With nightly warrant sweeps and probation searches, they're trying to get inside information on some of the most notoriously closed-mouth criminals in the area.

And Asian gangs are not the only concern.

In the past 12 months, other gang attacks have claimed the lives of a Sheldon High School student, a 21-year-old North Sacramento man and at least 18 others.

With approximately 5,000 gang members countywide, police, sheriff's and probation officials are trying to stay ahead of what they say will be a greater crime wave come spring.

Sacramento Police Sgt. John Trefethan is among those who don't look forward to blue skies. When the days get warm, Sacramento's gang members spill into the streets or pile into cars to cruise with their friends.

"The chances of coming into contact with each other are far greater," he said.

Conflict over drug turf, especially the lucrative methamphetamine trade, can trigger violence among any of the area's gangs.

..snip......

One in every five killings in Sacramento city and county last year - 20 of 102 slayings - was gang-related, up from nine gang homicides in 2000.

So far this year, five of the 15 slayings in the city and county have been gang-related.

Officials estimate there are about 20 Asian gangs in the area, each with membership ranging from 10 to 100 members.

"Gang activity is happening all the time (and) it's going to get really busy," said Sacramento County probation supervisor Marty Matsuda, whose officers oversee 550 of the highest profile gang members in Sacramento.

"I thought the Hmong were a gentle and peace loving folk who just didn't understand our barbaric hunting laws."

Kind of like the "Expletive removed" Hmong that killed those 6 deer hunters just because they asked him to leave their deer stand. Amazing how the MSM fails to notify the public about "Rabid Minority" types, had they been white gangs it would have been plastered all over every news source around. PC and the people who practice it, are worthless.

The only way to beat a gang is with a much tougher and bigger gang.

The cops and the community need to crack down HARD.

I was at the range on Saturday, and I would say I outshot nearly everyone there... These little gangbangers and tagger crews can barely hit a target at 21 feet.

The mayor should get all the gangs together tell them he has cordoned off a huge area for them to fight in out of the way of the public, load the place up with weapons and tell them to have at it, may the best gang win.

See, our governor is sooooooo rotten that we have to even

Put all gang bangers on their own island in the South Pacific. Let em sort it out there with spears and rocks.

These perps are not recent arrivals. It's actually quite a sad story. When the Communists took over Laos, they severely persecuted the Hmong. Those who escaped (mostly during the mid to late 70s) came here with poor educations. Some have since risen to success but some got into the gang banga culture due to living in the low rent district. Most of these gang members were born here in the US.

We need to use our NG for some "cleaning" of this problem.

If only meth were illegal, this wouldn't be the case. Right? Pinging WOD list.

The best way to put a stop to all that would be to legalize and regulate the marijuana industry. Otherwise we'll see a whole lot more of it being grown here as we tighten border security. If it was legal and regulated at least we'd have some control over who is growing it and how they are going about it. If not we'll see all sorts of people getting involved, foreigners and locals, organized criminals and individuals, and so on, and there will be no taxes collected and no control over the growing process with respect to environmental concerns, potency, safety, etc..

I don't disagree with your theory. But it's obvious green cards are being handed to criminals. With that card they can do most anything, like buy real estate, etc.

"I don't disagree with your theory. But it's obvious green cards are being handed to criminals. With that card they can do most anything, like buy real estate, etc."

I don't know about all that. They are supposed to check these people out before they give them green cards and I unless some records of past problems come up I don't know how they'll know who is going to turn out to be a criminal and who is going to turn out to be an asset to their communities.

I'll tell you what really bugs me and that is how aliens, both legal and illegal, can get convicted of felonies and then just be allowed to walk out of the jail back onto our streets. I'm a public defender and I see that happen all of the time. It just blows me away. Even legal aliens are supposed to be deported if they commit felonies or certain kinds of misdemeanors, but often they don't even deport the illegal aliens for committing serious felonies. I've been appointed to represent illegals on all sorts of charges and in almost every case where they get a suspended sentence or probation or even some jail time they just let them go. I don't know how often they are being deported after serving a prison sentence but in almost every case where things are handled locally these guys get right back out on the streets.

The thing is that INS knows we've got these people here. They'll be sitting in the jail and all those no accounts at INS would have to do is come pick them up or pay the sheriff's office to transport them, but they won't do it. Often they'll put a hold on them but then still won't come get them when it's time so the people end up getting released. And some of these guys are really bad news. In the last few months I've had one convicted of molesting a little kid and another convicted of hindering apprehension in a murder case. Other attorneys in my office have had several others convicted of other serious crimes being released like this and I have no doubt this sort of thing goes on in other parts of the country. The least INS could do is work with local authorities and deport the illegals who are known criminals.

That's my rant.

Who's fault is that? The liberals? When will our conservative leaders take charge?

Crap. Whenever the Hmong gangs start fighting in California it inevitably spills over to Minneapolis/St. Paul.

Sorry, but I refuse to blame an entire emigrant community for the actions of some of its members. I'm funny that way.

What, you mean holding individuals responsible for their own actions?

"Who's fault is that? The liberals? When will our conservative leaders take charge?"

Now that's the real question isn't it? Who's fault is it?
I've worked really hard to decide. I think it's mostly "administrative". The bureaucracies themselves and the inherint choas in them. We may have "conservative" (?) leaders, but the bureaucracies that carry out the actions, or non actions seem to be in charge of themselves mostly and they are mostly liberal. I don't think the big boys really want to bother to find out what goes on in the "ranks". They're too busy campaigning, it's their vocation. Elections (politicians) and government have little connection any longer.

And above all that, who's fault is it? OURS.
