Teens Leaping For Thrills In 'Garage Jumping' Trend
POSTED: 2:52 pm EST February 28, 2005 UPDATED: 11:02 am EST March 1, 2005
ORLANDO, Fla. -- Teenagers in Orlando, Fla., are leaping between 80-foot high public parking garages in a new trend called "garage jumping," according to a Local 6 News investigation.
Local 6 News reported that the thrill seekers are vaulting themselves between garages in downtown Orlando.
Tim Bargfrede told Local 6 News that he was following friends when he attempted to garage jump and did not make it to the other side. Bargfrede fell six stories and was knocked unconscious on impact.
"I just didn't make it," Bargfrede said.

It is amazing he was even able to make this statement.
Not only does he want to sue the city but also the private owner of the other garage.
What the hell have we become that some moron can sue because he wasn't prevented from doing something stupid?
More stupid teenager tricks. It's a wonder any of them manage to make it to adulthood.
One for the HMB ping list.....
And everyday we're reminded that the gene pool needs a touch more chlorine...
The father, instead of kicking his son's @$$, blames the city.
Somebody ought to kick his @$$.
What a moron. Maybe he's a lawyer, too.
"There was a very, very short length of fence that was completely ineffective in preventing this from happening," D'Assaro said."
Next thing you know, they'll be elevator surfing in the projects. .... No, wait a minute ....
If there's something extreme (a word here that means "incredibly stupid") to do, someone will do it. And someone else will try to do it and fail. And someone else will sue.
TS
The idiot is remarkably lucky to be alive.
When I was a teenager, I was stupid enough to do this, but I was smart enough that I would have worn a rope.
What I think is funny is how they quote the kid saying he didn't make it, and then go on telling us that the kid survived. I would imagine a quot would have been much harder to come by had the kid not survived.
I realize he didn't die, but can we give him an honorary Darwin award, clearly he'll kill himself doing some other stupid stunt.
The kid, his family, and his lawyer should have their property and assest seized for wasting taxpayer dollars.
"Timmy, I don't care if all your friends are doing it. If they jumped off a building, would you do it, too?"
we should award them $000,000.00.
I think he should sue the Bahamas for running a tourism promotional ad showing a guy jumping from one island to the next. Clearly this was a subliminal negative influence.
OK....prevention method....post an armed security guard with orders to shoot to kill any jumpers.....
The kid lived?
Sounds like a good place to do Organ Donor sign-ups.
