Exodus 20

1 And God spoke all these words, saying:
2"I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
3"You shall have no other gods before Me.
4"You shall not make for yourself a carved image--any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; 5you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, 6but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.
7"You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain, for the LORD will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain.
8"Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. 11For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.
12"Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the LORD your God is giving you.
13"You shall not murder.
14"You shall not commit adultery.
15"You shall not steal.
16"You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
17"You shall not covet your neighbor's house; you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor's."

Heavenly Father,

How glorious to have a loving and living God to watch over us, to guide us, to comfort us, to chastise us, to strengthen us, and to provide for our salvation even while we are sinners. A small child once prayed "Thank You, God, for everything You do about everything." Help us to have that kind of childlike faith and gratefulness, acknowledging that all that we have comes to us only through Your grace and mercy. We pray without ceasing, always aware of Your presence undergirding us and Your hand guiding us through the trials and the joys of life. We praise Your Holy Name!

Lord, we seek Your continued blessings on President Bush. The clamor of his enemies grows louder each day and their tongues become more vicious. Let him shut out their vitriol and keep his eyes stayed on You, studying Your Word and communing with You throughout each day, seeking Your wisdom and yearning only to do Your will. Lead his cabinet and other members of the administration that they may carry out Your bidding as they perform their duties in service to our people. Bless Laura Bush and let her continue to be a source of comfort and inspiration to Americans through her grace and inner beauty. Watch over our President, his family, and our government officials, keeping them safe from the enemies who wish to see them come to harm.

Lord, it is because You placed in our President's heart a vision of the impossible that the nations of Afghanistan and Iraq have been freed from tyranny and have recently held free elections while other nations have taken steps towards securing liberty and democracy for their citizens. Let this wave of freedom sweep throughout the mid-East and beyond that all people of the world might enjoy the blessings of liberty.

These miracles of history have been wrought, to a great extent, through the courage and sacrifice of the men and women of our armed forces. We thank You for these troops and their heroism as well as for the sacrifices of their families who wait at home, longing for the return of their loved ones. Be a Shield to our military members and an Anchor for their families during these stressful times.

Father, we continue in earnest prayer for the Pope and for Terri Schiavo. May Your will be done in their lives and may You be glorified.

It grieves us, O Lord, to see some of our citizens trying to have Your Words, Your Commandments, removed from public places. These tenets are the basis of civilized behavior, of how man can live in peace and harmony with his fellow man and in relationship with You; and yet the very people who claim to be lovers of peace would have these precepts hidden from view and ignored. Father, forgive us! Embolden Your people to stand up for those things which are righteous and to demand that our judiciary and our legislators follow the will of the people they purportedly serve. For too long we have done nothing. Give us the courage to speak out and hold these officials accountable. It is such actions as theirs that have enabled our nation to decline morally and to sink into depraved ways. Revive us, O Lord, and place in the hearts of our people again a desire to please You and to follow Your ways. In the Name of Jesus. Amen.

2 Chronicles 7:14
If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

AMEN KAYAK AND AMEN ALL!
GRACE TO ALL BRETHREN!

"He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove."
- Matthew 3:16

As the Spirit of God descended upon the Lord Jesus, the head, so he also,
in measure, descends upon the members of the mystical body. His descent is
to us after the same fashion as that in which it fell upon our Lord. There
is often a singular rapidity about it; or ever we are aware, we are
impelled onward and heavenward beyond all expectation. Yet is there none
of the hurry of earthly haste, for the wings of the dove are as soft as
they are swift. Quietness seems essential to many spiritual operations;
the Lord is in the still small voice, and like the dew, his grace is
distilled in silence. The dove has ever been the chosen type of purity,
and the Holy Spirit is holiness itself. Where he cometh, everything that
is pure and lovely, and of good report, is made to abound, and sin and
uncleanness depart. Peace reigns also where the Holy Dove comes with
power; he bears the olive branch which shows that the waters of divine
wrath are assuaged. Gentleness is a sure result of the Sacred Dove's
transforming power: hearts touched by his benign influence are meek and
lowly henceforth and for ever. Harmlessness follows, as a matter of
course; eagles and ravens may hunt their prey-the turtledove can endure
wrong, but cannot inflict it. We must be harmless as doves. The dove is an
apt picture of love, the voice of the turtle is full of affection; and so,
the soul visited by the blessed Spirit, abounds in love to God, in love to
the brethren, and in love to sinners; and above all, in love to Jesus.
The brooding of the Spirit of God upon the face of the deep, first
produced order and life, and in our hearts, he causes and fosters new life
and light.
Blessed Spirit, as thou didst rest upon our dear Redeemer, even so rest
upon us from this time forward and for ever.

The words of Spurgeon are always enlightening. Thank you for bringing them to us so faithfully and for joining in our prayer efforts.

Heavenly Father, we all agree with that child about whom Kayak wrote. You are all good, all right, all mighty and perfect in all your ways. We rejoice when we see Your Kingdom in manifestation and we see Your glorious hand when we turn to the right or to the left. We rejoice because You have told us to pray for those in authority, to pray for Your Kingdom to be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Because we have done this, we, like King David, awake each day expecting to see your mighty hand answering our Heaven-directed prayers.

We continue to give you thanks for a born-again President and for all the born-again, skilfull and wise leaders that You have put in authority. We boldly ask You for more. We especially continue our petitions for godly and wise judges.

Thank You for loving us enough to care about and take care of our needs. You are so good to busy Yourself with every aspect of our lives and we are a grateful people.
