Father, we bring before You , President Bush, asking You to give him the strength he needs for the task with which You have entrusted him. We ask for Your guidance in each decision he makes, that he would sense Your clear direction in his life. Thank You, Father, for the vision that he so clearly has for the Middle East that is coming from You. We see the manifestation of that vision in the stunning events of the past weeks, and we pray for Your continued direction in those countries which have so long lived in darkness. We pray that in the newfound freedom they have, that the light of Your love will be able to shine through, and that many may come to a saving knowledge of You, through Your Son, Jesus Christ.
We pray for safety for President Bush as he travels, that he might be shielded from all those who seek to do him harm. We pray for Your blessings in his life, and in Laura's life, and their families'. Shelter them all under Your wing, O Lord, and guide and direct each of them, bringing them closer to You, as they grow in faith and knowledge of Your word.
We continue to pray for the members of our military who are serving in places of great danger. We pray for their safety and protection against the enemy, and pray that they might have peace in the knowledge that they are serving in the cause of freedom, and that the cause is just. We pray for their families at home that they might feel Your presence in their lives, and we pray for the adjustment of those who are now coming home to families and employment that may seem very different from those they left. We continue to lift up those who have been wounded that they might be healed completely, and pray especially for the families of those who have fallen that they might experience the peace that only You can give in their deep grief.
Father, we also continue to lift up this nation before You, asking You to forgive us our sins. Bring Your people in America to their knees in prayer for the future of this nation, dear Lord. Help us to know how to act to end the holocaust of abortion, and how to stand up for the powers of evil that are trying to remove any mention of You from our nation's discourse. Father, we long to be a nation that honors You. Help us to remember that every good and perfect gift comes from You. We pray all this in the name of Jesus, who is the Christ, Amen!
Please join us in prayer for our President, for our troops and for our nation!

What does this sweet prayer teach me? It shall be my evening's petition;
but first let it yield me an instructive meditation. The text informs me
first of all that David had his doubts; for why should he pray, "Say unto
my soul, I am thy salvation," if he were not sometimes exercised with
doubts and fears? Let me, then, be of good cheer, for I am not the only
saint who has to complain of weakness of faith. If David doubted, I need
not conclude that I am no Christian because I have doubts. The text
reminds me that David was not content while he had doubts and fears, but
he repaired at once to the mercy-seat to pray for assurance; for he valued
it as much fine gold. I too must labour after an abiding sense of my
acceptance in the Beloved, and must have no joy when his love is not shed
abroad in my soul. When my Bridegroom is gone from me, my soul must and
will fast. I learn also that David knew where to obtain full assurance. He
went to his God in prayer, crying, "Say unto my soul I am thy salvation."
I must be much alone with God if I would have a clear sense of Jesus'
love. Let my prayers cease, and my eye of faith will grow dim. Much in
prayer, much in heaven; slow in prayer, slow in progress. I notice that
David would not be satisfied unless his assurance had a divine source.
"Say unto my soul." Lord, do thou say it! Nothing short of a divine
testimony in the soul will ever content the true Christian. Moreover,
David could not rest unless his assurance had a vivid personality about
it. "Say unto my soul, I am thy salvation." Lord, if thou shouldst say
this to all the saints, it were nothing, unless thou shouldst say it to
me.
Lord, I have sinned; I deserve not thy smile; I scarcely dare to ask it;
but oh! say to my soul, even to my soul, "I am thy salvation.
" Let me have a present, personal, infallible, indisputable sense that I
am thine, and that thou art mine.

Father, You have commanded us to "fear not". Teach our President how to do this. Teach him how to roll each and every care on You because You care for him and You are the Greater One, Wisdom, Truth and our Champion.
We confess that he hears the voice of the Good Shepherd Who says, "This is the way. Walk in it." If the noise of this world is crowding out Your voice then pull him aside to a quiet place where he can hear you. Order and guide his every step in Jesus' name. Amen.
