Iraqi sources have told a Saudi newspaper that al-Qaeda's man in Iraq, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, has been arrested. Al Watan daily said Sunday that the official announcement on the arrest was delayed until a new Iraqi government is in place. The purported arrest supposedly took place on the Iraqi - Syrian border, the report added.
It should be mentioned that CNN aired on Saturday new pictures believed to show al-Zarqawi, who is America's most-wanted man in Iraq.
The Saudi paper said that the arrest of al-Zarqawi was completed ahead the recent visit of US Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld in Iraq. This visit took place early February.

Okay. Good point. Realigning my thinking and brushing away some of the many questions. :o)

(So there.)

Exactly. What we have here are pics of him being compared to known pics of him. Obviously, CNN found pics of him. This is rock-solid. Put two pics on top of eachother in Photoshop...they match up exactly.
The CNN pics are of him.
The problem is the truck pic, which would point to his capture if it is him. We can't see his face, and the best we got there is that maybe he has the same shirt and the hairline is very, very similar. But, for a real ID, we need more than that.

Yes, and the heck with what the ACLU and MSM says. They should stand in a line too. Right behind Al Zarqawi. Sure my hand would be a bit sore, but, hey, no pain no gain.

It might be the ol' rueful smile. You know, a self-mocking chuckle one gives at particularly grave moments.
It be great if we got the guy, but a lot of things don't make sense. Why wait a month? Why not heavier guard in the truck? etc. I guess we'll find out in good time, and we all know where it will break.

After the U.S. and Iraqi governments have gotten all the intelligence out of Zarqawi as we can we should give him to the Iraqi people. Let them drag him into the streets and behead him in public. Then they can show it on Iraqi TV and post it on the net. I want to hear this man gagging on his own blood. He had no problem doing that to innocent people and he's definitely not innocent. Eye for an eye.

It can be anyones guess why he looks so happy under arrest by our American and Iraqi forces.
Even when Saddam was captured, he was defiant, in spite of that fact he may never see the light of day on the other side of a jail cell or electric chair.
I can only guess, the reason he ( both) look happy is ? because they requested alcohol to drink, or they are being defiant towards the American & Iraqi forces, and America.

"I was just wondering though, despite the similarities, in this latest pic he seem a little too robust, healthy looking for such a hunted man that's on the run?"
I wouldn't doubt if he was able to rest and hide in Syria when the pressure became to much. If he could cross the border easily he probably didn't have much to worry about while on the Syrian side.

I can only guess, the reason he ( both) look happy is ? Or maybe someone told a really good joke.

This kind of thread is a fun break from the other more heavy stuff. Let's see . . .
Here we go again Does the movie "Groundhog Day" resemble this picture?
Or,
Insanity is trying the same thing and expecting the same results.

Well .. I hope it's true because I believe it will be very demoralizing for the insurgency.
And .. with the public now protesting in the streets over the bombings and some citizens accosting shooters and bombers and turning them over to police - the terrorists are losing - BIG TIME.

Yes,,, you could be correct on him smiling,, a self-mocking smile, or a smirk of a smile of defiance towards the US forces and the USA.
Why wait a month ?
Well, depending on how long any news of Zarqawis capture ( if it is true ) were to get back to OSBL , why announce his capture to the whole world so would OSBL know about Zarqawi's capture ?
If , and once in our custody , the US forces can use his capture to our advantage as long as OSBL does not know about it.
The US forces can get Intel out of him, and the US forces and C.I.A. can set up some kind of STING OPERATION to set up OSBL , like in a phone conversation to find out were OSBL is, or find out what other plans that OSBL is up to.
I think ? our people, the US forces, RUMMY and president Bush will let us know about his capture when the time is right, even if he was captured over a month ago.

Or someone farted in the room

Your guess is as good as mine.

Unfortunately, this is about the 15th times someone has caught him. I'm feeling a bit like Charlie Brown trying to kick that football....
