More importantly Texas and South Carolina have reciprocity. South Carolina is the lone "hold out" state in the southeast that doesn't readily recognize other state's permits, even neighboring states. I would get a Texas non-resident permit for this purpose alone if it didn't cost $140. They must think it is made of gold.
