Joe McCarthy Once Again Blamed for HUAC
The Sporting News ^ | 3-7-2005 | Ken Rosenthal

Posted on 03/07/2005 2:40:55 PM PST by cainin04

I just wanted to pass this along. Rosenthal is a great sports writer, but he has fallen for the same mistake that so many other reports have--he claimed that Sen. Joe McCarthy was the head of the House un-American Activities Committee. SENATOR--HOUSE, what's that Mr. Rosenthal?

It is pretty sad that Sen. McCarthy's name is continued to be dragged through the mud for something he was not a part of.

Here is an excerpt...

When Sen. Joe McCarthy ran the House Un-American Activities Committee, innocent people were stained by the mere request to testify. Without legitimately obtained evidence against suspected players, the same concept applies.

Senior writer Ken Rosenthal covers baseball for Sporting News. Email him at kenrosenthal@sportingnews.com.

Blamed? Why blamed?

Hunting down commies, and outing "liberals" who were really reds also, was a great benefit for our nation.

Bring 'em back!

No. What is sad is that McCarthy was completely RIGHT about the commies in Washington and Hollywood.

Yeah, I agree. Every person I know of that he ever named a communist, was a communist!

I think it would be so much more efficient if we replaced McCarthy's name with a number - like 2, for example. It would save liberal nit wits so much time. His name must be evoked a trillion times a year, about 85% of the time by people like this who have a thimblefull of knowledge when it comes to history.

Sportswriters, as a class, are said to be the most liberal of all journalists.

Bring back Baseball Digest.

I don't know how old Rosenthal is, but he likely learned his sistory through books that were scrubbed clean of commie tyranny. Joe McCarthy was right... our government was infiltrated by communists. Joe Stalin was evil... and killed millions.

Ask the descendants of the Katyn Forest Massacre which one was the good Joe.

There is more than one error to correct. It was the House Committee on Un-American Activities not the House UnAmmerican Activities Committee. The acromyn "HUAC" (first used by leftists) is therefore inaccurate.

House Un-American Activities Committee

This is an amphibole deliberately invented by the left-wing press to smuggle in the 2nd meaning (that the committee's work itself was un-American). The ACTUAL name of the committee which Joe McCarthy (being a SENATOR, HellOOOOO!!!!) was NOT a member of was: "The House Committee on Un-American Activities" ("HCUA").

Dear Mr. Rosenthal.

You really need to check your facts, and to read your history once and awhile. Your statement “When Sen. Joe McCarthy ran the House Un-American Activities Committee,” is a completely stupid sentence because SENATE members do not run HOUSE committees, they are different braches of the Government.

Sen. McCarthy goal was to take communist out of high or secretive government positions. Would you really want a Soviet spy at the Commerce Department of Defense, or in Russian code breaking? If you actually did any research you would find that recently released Russian documents proved Sen. McCarthy was RIGHT, that NO innocent people were stained by the mere request to testify, and that he was subject to a smear campaign by the communist. In fact McCarthy created horrendous fear among the Soviet apparatchiks and the champions in the Democratic Party.

Today “McCarthyism” means pointing out a positions taken by liberals that are unpopular with the American People. Which you apparently have done.

I would suggest you give up a few ball games and read Ann Coulters’ Treason, it will give you the education you never got from public schools.
