Embattled CBS anchorman Dan Rather is set to finally bow out on Wednesday. For a bunch of folks---that can't get here soon enough. In the last couple of weeks, even CBS people have turned on him, claiming they don't even watch the CBS Evening News.
--"He's not as easy to watch as [Peter] Jennings or [Tom] Brokaw," said "60 Minutes" correspondent Mike Wallace in this week's The New Yorker magazine.
-- Legendary anchor Walter Cronkite, who recommended Rather for a job years ago, told the magazine he preferred watching Brokaw - who retired last year - because Rather looked like he was "showboating" - playing the part of a reporter on TV.

Nothing like kicking a horse when it's down!
What hypocrites.
Poor Dan, he's just "misunderstood". Let's take up some donations to buy him a good quality ice pick.
Couldn't happen to a "nicer" guy.
They are the same people who "taught Dan everything he knows"
Well, we already knew that.
I also think Walter Cronkite is a vicious old coot.
If CBS has a "head of the snake" -- that clown ought to be fired for allowing Blather to drag the network into the cess pool....
Actions that insane should have WIDESPREAD consequences...
Drain the swamp at CBS!

That's true, but Cronkite and Wallace don't look good with their parting Shots which is an added plus.
For whatever reason, my parents have watched CBS news for decades. Long ago I realized that *every* story broadcast was presenting some kind of 'problem', to which the presumed solution was either 1.) the federal government passing a law to ban something, or 2.) the federal government spending more money. Blech.
I was amused 3 or 4 years ago when Dan suddenly appeared on the news with a spiky 'Bart Simpson' haircut that would have looked more appropriate at a drug rave than a network newsroom.
Dan your no loss.
Going to get reported on the CBS Evening News Wed, that Rather's resignation was a forgery.
I never watch CBS or Rather, but I have to admit that on election night, while watching the election results on Fox and the internet, I'd occasionally switch to CBS just to watch Rather sweat, bumble around, and make stupid comments about how many states Kerry needed, why CBS wasn't calling Ohio for Pres. Bush, etc. It was fun!
Dan circles the drain.
well this just ruined my day.... to discover I think like Walter Cronkite.
It's so nice to see somebody get smacked down at the end of their career and settle finally into the place of low renown where they should have been all along.
For as long as he's remembered, he'll always be "Dan Rather - Disgraced Former Journalist."
We reap what we sew. It will eventually catch up with all of us, though usually not on this grand of a stage. So very glad to see him go, though. :)
Dan Rather is another unrepentant left-wing saboteur on a par with Alger Hiss. And like Hiss, he was caught in a lie that his mega-ego would not let him own up to. Trying to exert undue influence on a presidential election by reporting a bogus story built upon faked-up documents that had his daughter's fellow democratic party operative's prints all over it, was not journalism, it was fraud. It sure is funny how the news media, when exposing the mideeds of corporate America to the public, calls for immediate goverment intervention and regulation---except when it's THEM. Then they wrap themselves in the flag and claim First Amendment protection.
That he so arrogantly considers himself a 'distinguished, reputable journalist' testifies to the depth of his self-delusion. He's nothing more than a high-profile propagandist for the DNC.
Because it was the station of Edward R. Murrow, the father of TV news journalism. He (Murrow) has, no doubt, been rolling over in his grave watching Rather and his ilk undermine the objectivity and high standards Morrow set.
If you and I presented counterfeit money for goods and services would his media hacks report it as "unauthenticated federal dollar bills"?
He committed a felony - presenting fraudulent federal military documents.
He should be arrested for attempting to influence a federal election with those falsified documents.
I think he's scared - that's why he will not admit the papers are frauds. He knew it. He knows it. He is a cornered rat.
Their damage control is whisleing up a an empty pipe..
Prison is too good for them all.. Socialism is slavery by government.. and they are the propagandists for it.
