New York Bill Creates Anti-Hunting Office- (03/04)

A New York bill will create a new taxpayer funded office that will fight for the animal rights movement.

Assembly Bill 4306, introduced by Assemblyman Felix W. Ortiz, D-Brooklyn, will create an Office of Advocacy for Wildlife. The office will advise and assist almost every entity in the state including the governor, legislature, local governments, and state agencies on issues that pertain to wildlife conservation.

One of the office’s objectives according to the bill will be to “study, develop, encourage, and provide assistance for non-lethal management of wildlife.”

This objective is a covert move to introduce anti-hunting ideas into the scientific management of New York’s wildlife.

Furthermore, the duties of the Office of Advocacy for Wildlife created by AB 4306 are already carried out by the state’s Division of Wildlife and Department of Environmental Conservation. The Division and Department use scientifically based evidence when making wildlife management decisions. They have a stellar record of success in conservation and wildlife management. Assembly Bill 4306 is merely a vehicle to use tax dollars to advocate the political agenda of the anti-hunting movement.

Take Action! New York sportsmen should contact your assemblymen today and ask them to oppose AB 4306. Explain that the new office will contradict sound wildlife principles and duplicate services already performed by the Division of Wildlife. To contact your assemblyman, call (518) 455-2800 or use the Legislative Action Center at www.ussportsmen.org.

I'm sure old, Don't Upset the Apple Cart George is going to run as fast and as far away from this as possible. I live in CT but I've been watching this spinelss wimp operate for years and at times I think NY may just as well have kept Il Duce, Mario Como.

Are you getting the idea like me that politicians are nuts. Isn't there something more important we can get them on?

I can't help noticing that Assemblyman Ortiz is from Brooklyn. The only animals to hunt there are rats and feral cats. Hunters in upstate and the whole "red area" of the state should organize and march on Albany. If they don't, then I lay the blame on them for allowing this idiocy to happen.

"I wonder how Pataki feels about this one."

Believe it or not, lovers of the liberty, the constitution and more specifically the 2nd amendment were better off under Cuomo. For the first 2 of his 3 winning election, I received pro Pataki literature from the NRA including "Support Freedom, Elect Pataki" bumper stickers. Cuomo being a dyed in the wool anti gunner. Funny thing happened in his second term....Pataki turned on his constituency and proposed and received draconian gun bills that layered more repression upon us already repressed NY gun owners. Previously when Mr. Cuomo would propose like measures, he would receive backing of the Democrat assembly, but the upstate dominant Republican state senate would stone wall his attempts leaving them in limbo. Of course with their own boy in the governors mansion, the State Senate shooed these awful bills into law.

Last election I voted for the third party clown Galisano as my protest vote. The democrat candidate would have at least elicited gridlock....far better than what we got with Pataki.

Pataki for president???? not as standard barer of the Republican party...never happened never will....(and that goes for Rudy too)

Assemblyman Felix W. Ortiz needs a psychiatric evaluation in the Soviet Union. It's only there that he would be declared normal.

I wonder if we can force a state OUT of the Union. New Yawk needs to have a fence built around it with stern warnings to keep out.

These people are nuts.

Assembly Bill 4306, introduced by Assemblyman Felix W. Ortiz, D-Brooklyn

He's from Brooklyn where the wildlife ranges mainly from sewer rats to pigeons.

There's more honor and integrity in the Montana Militia than what the Feds or any State Govt has ever shown. But if you listen to what the MSM spews then I guess you'll have attitudes commiserat with them.

Plus I never said ya'll were all nuts :)

What? You mean that so-called "sportsmen," the same nut jobs that want to shoot cats in Wisconsin, may have to manage wildlife in a non-lethal, civilized manner?

That would take away all the fun targets for sportsmen to shoot at, wound, and cripple. What's next, protecting all animals from bloodthirsty sadists?

"Scientifically managed wildlife" is a joke; it means humongous deer herds for hunters to shoot at, and more ducks to kill even though there's fewer ducks than ever before.
