Another allegation has been dismissed in Conyer's seemingly endless parade of witch hunts. This time concerning Gannon/Guckert etc and Secret Service clearance.

The Secret Service has responded to a request from House Democrats to investigate the approval of discredited White House correspondent Jeff Gannon and stated there was no deviation from proper procedures, RAW STORY can reveal.
The Service, which replied in a letter to Rep. John Conyers (D-MI)and Rep. Louise Slaughter (D-NY) on Monday, asserts that Gannon, whose real name was Jim Guckert, was approved appropriately.
Please be advised that our Office of Protective Operations has looked into this matter and has determined that there was no deviation from Secret Service standards and procedures as your letter suggests, Secret Service Deputy Assistant Director Conrad A. Everett wrote. Mr. Guckert provided the Secret Service with his legal name, rather than his pen name, and was assessed using the same criteria applied to all individuals seeking access to White House briefings. [End}
Well, on to the next one John. Maybe get with Terrreeeeeza and launch a joint investigation of how the "2 brothers" swiped the election.

What's the background on Gannon? Did he work for any particular news service and why did he need an alias?
To: american spirit
Worked for Talon News, as to why he used a nom de plume, haven't a clue.

Looks like the secret service needs to improve their standards. How someone using an alias get so close to the POTUS is beyond me.

Read. The SS says he submitted his REAL NAME for clearance. No wrong by the SS. Everything is A-OK.
To: traderrob6
This is a great use of the Secret Service's time.
Conyers is a self-serving buffoon.
To: Coleus
If you read the article it clearly states that the SS had his real name. Besides the guy is a Freeper, that is credential enough for anybody

So, who was he hiding from or deceiving, is this normal for the white house press corps...Something is still very fishy.
And how sure are we that the secret service did know his real name, do we just belive them w/o any evidence?

more people than you think write under pen names, I often thought if I ever get a chance to write and get published I'd prefer to use a pen name, gives a degree of privacy, esp if you happened to stumble upon success, or you can think of your pen name as your alter ego
also I have a European last name, hard to spell hard to pronounce so yeah a nom du plume might have a nicer ring to it.

YES! Covering their tracks.
As most of us would in the same predicament. I'm not one to put so much faith in the govt. I'm not one to believe career politicians and bureaucrats. I recently attended an outside rally for the president while he visited NJ the other day for his SS on the road. I wasn't too impressed with the security.

a professional reporter in the White House press corps? No way. It's so unprofessional and deceiving. Use a pen name to write a book, yea, some people have, no way in the white house.
