Not that we're doing all that badly, but I would always like to have more affiliate stations for the Neal Boortz Show. There are several reasons why I don't have 500 radio stations out there. First, there is stiff competition with a number of other talk show hosts for my particular time spot. I have to beat all of that competition for each and every precious affiliate. If I was on the air during a different day part, with no competing hosts out there, things would be different. One of the most exasperating excuses we get from some stations who decline to carry the show is that we're "too Southern." Being based in Atlanta seems to be a negative with some station managers. It's part of that anti-Southern, "Southerners talk funny therefore they're stupid" bias that exists throughout the country. Not much you can do about that one I guess ... except move, and I happen to like it right where I am.
There are, however, some things that I could do that would mean an immediate (if not sooner) increase in Boortz affiliates. We toyed with these on one of the shows last week .. but I'm listing them here for your comments. Here's all I have to do:
* Make strident diatribes at least three times a week against a woman's right to choose. Call doctors who perform abortions "murderers." * Promote prayer for other people's children in government schools led by government agents. * Advocate symbols of the Christian religion, and only the Christian religion, in all government buildings and courthouse lawns. * Preach hatred of homosexuals no less than twice a week, worry incessantly about the "homosexual agenda." * Teach Belinda to talk like she's from Newark. * Move the home base for the show out of Atlanta and to either the West Coast or New York City. * Slam evolution as false science and promote the teaching of the biblical theory of creation in government schools by government agents.
Sorry, folks. I just don't see much of that happening. I guess I'm just going to remain your "boutique" talk show host.
Apparently neither Boortz or you listen to anything else but him.
Apparently neither Boortz or you listen to anything else but him.
I listen to Rush as well. Try again.
He's right about the time slot thing. He can't possibly compete against Tony Snow (much less the Maha Rushie).
If he followed the laundry list he gives, I would stop paying attention to him.
Is Boortz pro-abortion?
that was rude. why even take the time to email you?
He won't discuss it or take calls on it, but the impression he gives is that he's not in favor of banning abortion. Haven't heard him delineate between his views on federal vs. state policies, or what he thinks of Roe v. Wade.
The reason Boortz isn't as big as Rush, and never will be, is because he enjoys insulting the people who listen to his show. He also whines too much.
Why would it upset me? The whole point is to increase his stations. He admitted it up front. So he is deliberately baiting people. I can only assume hoping for screams of outrage to follow, and many more to tune in to listen. I doubt it'll work, but maybe it will.
I've frequently heard him insult those who hold various liberal and big-government positions, but I figured he was under the assumption that nanny-staters wouldn't be his audience anyway. I've never heard him say anything I'd be insulted by, even on the few topics on which I don't agree with him.
Oh, geez, Boortz needs to quit whining about pro-life, anti-homosexual conservatives...He's got a pretty good show as it is. I don't agree with his libertarianism, but I still listen because he usually makes sound arguments for his points. I doubt his ratings would go up even if he took a more socially conservative slant.
Not exactly you, but some people here on FR who like to thump their bible and tell other people how to live.
Possibly the most remarkable thing about Neal Boortz is that he wears a brand-new pair of whitey-tightey briefs every day, then throws them away at night. I really admire that. Oh the luxury! I could take over the world in brand new whitey-tighteys and new shoes :)
boortz is boring.
when i tune in, he's trying to be funny with his female sidekick.
Most politics is about telling other people how to live, I would venture.
I love Boortz. Of course, there are times I would love to throw the radio because he can make me So mad, but that is why I like him. He challenges what you believe at times and really makes you reason out why you think what you do. I don't always agree with him but I do find him entertaining.
Well, I am a Christian.
However his motives here are quite obvious. Reading through it appears he came up with a list he may (or may not) believe to encourage response. Likely negative. Why respond to the bait, and give him the bump in ratings?
