"Flirtin' With Disaster"... Great song. I love Southern rock. Sorry to hear of his passing.

Damn. I saw these guys in concert back about '84 or so. They headlined with Kansas. Both groups were absolutely fantastic and Molly Hatchet put on one of the best shows I've ever been to. So sad to hear about Danny's death.

Are you the one who put "Singer" in quotes?

That's brutal.

I’ve been to alabama, people ain’t a whole lot to see;
Skynyrd says it’s a real sweet home but it ain’t nothing to me.
Charlie daniels will tell you the good lord lives in tenessee, ha!
But I’m going back to gator country where the wine and the women are free.

Chorus:
There’s a gator in the bushes, he’s calling my name,
And a saying come on boy, you better make it back home again.
There’s many roads I’ve travelled but they all kind of look the same.
There’s a gator in the bushes, lord, he calling my name.

Old richard betts will tell ya lord he was born a ramblin’ man.
Well he can ramble back to georgia but I won’t give a damn.
Elvin bishop out struttin his stuff with little miss slick titty boom.
But I’m going back to gator country to get me some elbow room.

Chorus:
There’s a gator in the bushes he’s calling my name.
And saying come on boy, you better make it back home again.
There’s many roads I’ve travelled but they all kinda look the same.
There’s a gator in the bushes, lord, he calling my name. yep.

There’s marshall tucker riding a rainbow searching for a pot of gold.
Well they can take the highway, baby, and they can take all they can hold.
The outlaws down in tampa town it’s a mighty fine place to be.
They got green grass and got high tides and sure looks good to me.

Chorus:
There’s a gator in the bushes, he’s calling my name.
Saying come on boy, you better make it back home again.
There’s so many roads I’ve travelled but they all kinda look the same.
There’s a gator in the bushes , lord, he’s calling my name.

Lead break

Oh gator country,
A little bit of that chomp chomp

Lead break

Hi All-

Diabetes can be a brutal killer, but you would think that AIDS is the only disease on this planet with all the hootin' and hollerin' from the Hollywood bunch.

The lead singer from Poison has had his struggles with this malady as well. He was always quite an entertainer, too. I especially feel sorry for the fit, younger people who get this disease through no fault of their own.

OMG! This is really sad news...Danny was a great singer, & Molly Hatchet was a PROUD Southern rock band. I saw them in Little Rock after he left the band the 1st time, & the new guy just wasn't even close to having Danny's vocal talents. RIP, Danny...us Southern/Confederate boys are gonna miss you.

"Dreams I'll Never See" was the best number Hatchet ever had, and it was an Allman Bros cover. Damn good one though. I'm a fool for Southern Fried rock, but let's not put these guys in the same league as say, Skynyrd.

I'm travelin' down the road,
I'm flirtin' with disaster.
I've got the pedal to the floor,
My life is running faster.
I'm out of money, I'm out of hope,
It looks like self destruction.
Well how much more can we take,
With all of this corruption.

Been flirtin' with disaster,
Ya'll know what I mean.
And the way we run our lives,
It makes no sense to me.
I don't know about yourself or,
What you want to be - YEAH.
When we gamble with our time,
We choose our destiny.

Chorus:
I'm travelin' down that lonesome road.
Feel like I'm dragging a heavy load.
Yeah! I've tried to turn my head away,
Feels about the same most every day.

Speeding down the fast lane,
Playin' from town to town.
The boys and I have been burnin' it up,
Can't seem to slow it down.
I've got the pedal to the floor,
Our lives are runnin' faster,
Got our sights set straight ahead,
But ain't sure what we're after.

Flirtin' with disaster,
Ya'll know what I mean.
You know the way we run our lives,
It makes no sense to me.
I don't know about yourself or,
What you plan to be - Yea!!
When we gamble with our time,
We choose our destiny.

Chorus:
Yeah!! We're travelin' down that lonesome road.
Feel like I'm dragging a heavy load.
Don't try to turn my head away,
I'm flirtin' with disaster every day.

Flirtin' with disaster, baby,
Ya'll know what I mean.
You know the way we run our lives,
It makes no sense to me.
I don't know about yourself or,
What you plan to be - Yea!!
When we gamble with our time,
We choose our destiny.

Chorus:
Yeah!! We're travelin' down that lonesome road.
Feel like I'm dragging a heavy load.
Don't try to turn my head away,
I'm flirtin' with disaster every day.

When I was a disc jockey in 1981 or 82 I interviewed Dave Hlubek, lead guitar for Molly Hatchet, one Saturday morning in Utica, NY.

I was a littled P.O.'d because I had been promised by the record promoter an interview with Mick Jagger who had performed the night before, a Friday, at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse where Molly Hatchet was the opening act.

I was pretty messed up that morning and, apparently, Mick was disinclined to drive fifty miles to talk to me so Dave Hlubek was the consolation prize.

He sat in the studio and ate salt and vinegar potato chips while snorting coke off the counter.

I was woozy from the night before and remember getting the whirlies just watching him.

It was February or March and I remember asking him, "Dave, how do you like the upstate New York winters?"

"Oh, they're great!" he replied. "Cold weather makes the girls nips stand out!"

Another musician lost. They just keep dying and dying and dying. When will the madness end? Just recently we've lost Chris Ledoux, Skeeter Davis, Waylon Jennings, Laura Branigan, Dimebag Darrell Abbot, that guy from McFadden and Whitehead, Richard Marx, Johnny Cash, (We Hardly Knew Ye) 'Ol Dirty Bastard, the guitarist in that rock band I can't remember, Andy Gibb and the list goes on and on and on of dead musicians. When WILL this madness end?

I remember Molly Hatchet well. I was just playing "Flirtin' With Disaster" on my iPod not too long ago. After a quarter century, that song still rocks hard.

So young.

Diabetes can be managed, but it takes some effort. There is no reason for someone to die of Diabetes in today's world.
