Florida Missing girl Jessica Lunsford: Authorities have identified a person of interest and have the results of the lie detector test.
Statement from the Citrus County Sheriff's Office:
Homosassa Springs, Florida - Among many of the investigative tools used by detectives in the missing child case of Jessica Lunsford, polygraphs were administered to the three immediate family members who lived with the 9-year-old girl in the family's Sonata Avenue home.
FBI polygraphers conducted the tests, and agency behavioral analysts reviewed the results. Sheriff's Office officials have refrained from saying if family members passed or failed. However, in the cases of Jessica's father, Mark Lunsford, 41, and her grandfather, Archie Lunsford, 72, Sheriff Jeff Dawsy has stated that detectives had no immediate concerns based on the men's responses.
Jessica's grandmother, Ruth Lunsford, 73, was the last family member to take a polygraph on Friday, March 4. Sheriff Dawsy said that at least two of her responses raised "red flags" for detectives, but declined to elaborate. Subsequent interviews with the grandmother failed to reveal what, if anything, she may know about Jessica's disappearance.
Sheriff Dawsy restated that so far, no one has been crossed off the list of possible suspects in the case. In fact, detectives are attempting to locate a person of interest they've developed as a result of the intense investigation focused on the missing girl. The man is believed to be currently out of state, but detectives want to question him concerning Jessica's disappearance. They're working with several other law enforcement agencies in an attempt to locate the man.
Under the supervision of the Citrus County Sheriff's Office Crimes Against Children and Juvenile Affairs units, a 14-member task force, comprised of representatives from the Sheriff's Office, Hernando County Sheriff's Office, FBI and FDLE, has been assigned to work the Jessica Lunsford case full time until such time as the case is resolved.
Thanks for the post...BTTT
God forgive me for saying so, but of all the people I saw interviewed about this case...the grandmother I believed the least.
hmmmmmmmmm.
Some people have an instinct for this sort of thing. I had a friend who watched Susan Smith's fist tv appearance and just blurted out that she was lying.
Just asking as I know nothing about this case.
This article is more than confusing.
Some of us, me in particular, had a good thrashing with my instinct about a certain other person in the news.
I think it will be the grandfather, he was already looked at years ago for kidnapping, and when I saw him interviewed I got a real funny fealing about him. I believe somehow that both grandparents were involved, they were home at the time and its just a lot to swallow that they know nothing about the girl disappearing. IMHO
That being said, I pray she's found safely, but she's been missing a long time with no sightings.
I believe the little girl is nine years old.
I am one of those people. I just have a "feeling" about things like that...don't know why. It has never failed me. When I saw Susan Smith my FIRST reaction was that she was lying. When I saw the dad of this little girl in FL, my first reaction was he didn't have anything to do with this. Just a feeling. The grandmother didn't give me a feeling that she didn't have anything to do with it. She has always been suspect to me and when I found out she was the last one to see her...something just ain't right there.
Thanks for posting. I hadn't heard what was going on with this case. BTTTT
This whole case is bizarre. The fact that an Amber Alert has never been issued suggests that the police have known (or suspected) something from the get-go. There are shoes that have yet to drop in this case.
That was my reaction to Smith when I first saw her! Then again I'd had far too many dealings with Borderline personality types when I worked as a psych nurse!
Actually, I'm not going down any road. I have not one ounce of instinct or expertise in any of this sort of thing. My friend's reaction to Susan Smith did surprise me, and of course he turned out to be right. He never struck me as a person with any kind of agenda or predisposition to react that way. It's all very sad about this little girl and I can't think it will turn out well, but I'll be darned if I have a clue.
Hush, ya'll, or I'll sic my southern friends on you ;)
This is odd.
But the "person of interest" is a man who Shep Smith just said police do not believe is in Florida anymore.
