Evangelists step up efforts to convert World Muslims Kevin Greeson, a Christian missionary in South Asia, says ACristian missionaries will be using the Qurans mention of Jesus in engaging Muslims in dialogue to convert them to Christianity.
I dont mean to say Muslims are our enemy, but using the Quran as a bridge has allowed us to go deep, deep, deep into enemy territory, said Greeson.
The worlds 1.2 billion Muslims are the top target of evangelical efforts to spread Christianity.
Greeson, who works for the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Conference, was among mission professionals who discussed on Tuesday strategies during the Breakthrough Among Muslims conference, sponsored by the Alliance for Missions Advancement.
The Washington, D.C.-based Center for Strategic and International Studies released a report earlier this month, showing that most of the Arab leaders believe that the United States is engaged in a war with the Arab world or Islam itself. Which inspired President Bush to give his adviser Karen Hughes the job of improving Americas image globally and among Muslim nations in particular.
Mohammad Amir, a Muslim engineering student at Old Dominion University, says that back home in India, most of the people are aware of the United States intentions in the Middle East.
The American missionaries promoting Christianity, Amir said, add the negative image people have about the policies of this country.
Abdulla Bazaraa, director of the Egyptian Cultural and Education Bureau in Washington, D.C. says that If someone would come and try to approach Muslims and understand them and seek common ground, that would be accepted. To convert them is not welcome.
More than 27,000 missionaries are placed among the Muslims, says Greesons book. And some evangelicals say theres never been a better time to target Muslims and convert them to Christianity.
Also, Chris Grady, a Regent student studying to become a missionary, said that the deadly tsunami that struck Asia in December has created an opening for Christian-based relief groups to demonstrate Christ-like compassion while delivering aid.
Works for me.
Er, converting them to Christianity . . . not ashes.
Muslim works to get to heaven vs Christian grace to get to heaven
Muslim conversion by man vs Christian conversion by spirit
Muslim "moon god" vs Christian "son god"
Muslim "Allah's will" vs Christian "free choice"
Good luck, Catholics have been trying to do that since St. Francis of Assisi.
all's fair in love, God and jihad
since certain Islamists would prefer to convert or kill all the Jews, Christians and Hindus et al only fair that Christian missionaries take a shot huh
John 6:44
Yep, didn't work with converting the Pagans of Ireland or the Romans of Italy. Oh wait it did.
If Conversion wasn't possible, no one would be Christian today.
With no disrespect to St. Francis, new tools that may assist the 21st Century missionaries may help. Cell phones and especially the Internet. People in Muslim lands who have access to these things can do some investigating on their own as they question Islamic principles that the missionaries will be bringing up.
That would be saintly work, and much unintended martyrdom will result from such a dangerous venture IMO.
God does the calling, but he lets us do the talking.
Yep God does the calling but if we are 'right with Him'
then it is He who talks through us..and not we of ourselves
Jesus + nothing = salvation
imo
God does the converting.....we don't. Our job is to spread the gospel message. We are not capable of that transaction in the heart of an individual.
Along with much of the more recent failures, there have been Catholic successes. We've seen the list of errors in Islam, from an atheist. If you convince Muslims that the very basis of Islam is flawed, then unlike the atheist, the Catholic can offer the one, true Faith instead, and get them up to the starting line of life. Protestants not so much. But I'm Catholic, so I would say that. And I do count most self-described 'catholics', the 'new order' types, as Protestants - just to be clear.
That's not your opinion, you sly dog. You plagerized it from scripture.
