Terri's husband isn't the enemy, guardian says
Orlando Sentinel ^ | February 25, 2005 | Mike Thomas

Wolfson's report is based on court files, depositions, medical records and interviews with everyone involved.

That said, I begin with the most explosive allegation:

Did Michael try to kill Terri?

Wolfson laughs. "No!"

-----

Wolfson's report states that in the four years after her collapse, Michael "had insistently held to the premise that Theresa could recover and the evidence is incontrovertible that he gave his heart and soul to her treatment and care . . . In late autumn of 1990, following months of therapy and testing and formal diagnoses of persistent vegetative state with no evidence of improvement, Michael took Theresa to California, where she received an experimental thalamic stimulator implant in her brain. Michael remained in California caring for Theresa during a period of several months."

Says Wolfson now: "Michael was adoring of her. One nursing home complained he was hostile and abusive of the staff in championing her care. She was immaculately kept. In 13 years, she never had one bedsore."

You people will stop at NOTHING.

I think you forgot to finish your sentence.

You people will stop at NOTHING to keep TERRI ALIVE. And that is a correct statement.

I stand corrected on the facts, my apologies,

There's no need to apologize. Admitting the mistake here is certainly enough. Had it been a deliberate lie, that's something else, but nobody is accusing you of that, and nobody will.

Nobody's memory here is perfect and we all are fully capable of stating something that is wrong. This forum is excellent at pointing out when that happens. I've had my memory "refreshed" here many times. If you stay at this forum you will be corrected many times. No big deal unless it's a lie.

That's different.

Because otherwise we'd have to think something about you that doesn't go well with Christianity.

Calling other posters names or insulting them isn't very Christian-like either.

Very nice, even-handed, open minded-response to this situation.

Much of your position in your post is just based on normal, everday common sense.

What I find difficult is to understand why the Judge and many posters here do not have that same 'common sense'. It just defies explanation.

Millions of people promise to love, honor, etc. for life, but! still marry/divorce many times.

Things change, life changes.

I'm sure Michael thought deep down Terri would get better.

I've seen her brain scan and read the hospital care/discharge papers.

Says just about all, doesn't it?

He said not one word about TERRI's WISHES during the LAWSUIT.

This is one of the most troubling aspects of this case for me. If these indeed were Terri's wishes, why didn't this "loving and devoted" husband contemporaneously reveal this critical information to her own parents, much less any duly authorized legal authorities? This alone seems reason even enough to be suspicious about the sincerity of Michael Schiavo's motivations.

This sound like something out of a George Orwell novel.

This whole case is right out of Orwell.

Where do you get this stuff from?

That is a very good question and one I would like to answer because it is becoming very apparent that many posters do not know this 'trick'.

I have a TV, A radio. I can go buy a newspaper. I have a computer that is connected to the internet. It can provide me with articles in just about any newspaper or online journal in the world. I can look up court transcripts, court orders, affidavits, arrest records. I can find information on lawsuits, arrests, convictions, claims filed by the government, etc.

I read the statement of the PRIEST who gave the LAST RITES to TERRI and what I posted is almost identical to his exact words.

NOW, where do you get your information from? A CRACKER JACK BOX?

Wow, that's longer than I remembered.

This has nothing directly to do with the Schiavo case, but I do not want to spend my last 10 or 15 years in a bed, unable to get up or feed myself. Or communicate.

If my wife does not respect my living will and tries to hide it, then all I can hope for is that someone breaks into the facility and attacks me with a hammer.

We would never let a dog linger in the condition she is in. We put animals out of their misery.

Try starving one to death. You'll go to jail.

By the way, can a brain dead person experience misery? You claim Terri's brain dead. How could any such person experience misery? With no brain activity?

Actually, the last time the tube was removed, Terri's priest was not allowed entrance as it was said she'd choke on the Host if given Last Rites. I'll try to find a link for that.

Old news. She was administered Last Rites just yesterday by the family priest.

Because he gave her his word he would carry out her wishes and see her dead,

It must be very, very, dark where you are. One thing for sure, it's a pretty good bet that Michael DOES WANT TO SEE HER DEAD.

The testimony of one of the nurses states that Michael said "Is the bitch dead yet?", and that does support your statement. I think you should include that statement every time you refer to Michael's concerns for Terri's wishes.

Things change? I'll say. Maybe we should stop calling them wedding vows and refer to them as "non-binding but well-intentioned wedding hopes."

Michael's betrayal of his wedding vows are of a wholly different magnitude and not analogous to your point about the commonality of divorce and remarriage.. While still married to the woman he vowed to love and honor till death, he took up with another woman and started a new family.

I'm not Catholic, so, correct me if I am wrong, those who are unable to receive the body of Christ through leaven bread, they can still receive Christ by affirming their faith in Him through a simple prayer or praying with others.
