Regarding Terri Schiavo: Facts Should Trump Emotions and Activism
The National Ledger ^ | March 22, 2005 | Frank Salvato

So it has come to this, a true test to see if the American political system, judicial system and the American public as a whole have the ability to set aside emotion and activism in deference to the facts. So far the jury is out on this question. Just as it is out on the question of whether or not Terri Schiavo will live or die. Personally, I think we can do better, much better.

I find it reprehensible that in an age when gathering facts has never been easier or more convenient, most among us prove delinquent in doing so, even in matters of life and death and especially in those that will set precedent for future actions. It is grave evidence that our society is in a “persistent vegetative state” where the overbearing voice of the activist agenda trumps not only the good of the people but common sense. Our failure to ascertain facts or even be tempted by unanswered questions renders us neutered by political correctness.

On April 25th of 2001 Cyndi stated that Michael Schiavo admitted to lying about Terri expressing anything about her wishes regarding life sustaining treatment in the event of severe disability. While Cyndi later refused to testify citing her fear of Michael Schiavo, the issue became moot when just a day later on April 26th Judge George Greer refused to hear any testimony at all regarding Michael Schiavo’s statement. No investigation. No consideration. Nothing.

ooooooooooooooooooh.

In this instance the Schindlers (Terri Schiavo’s parents), practicing Catholics who have always considered their family close, claim that Terri would never have considered ending her life given these circumstances. While the tenets of Terri’s religion reinforce this claim, her spouse, with no other proof than his word, claims otherwise. Thus we have a “He-Said-She-Said” dilemma. That is until we hear a statement made by an ex-girlfriend of Michael Schiavo’s referred to only as “Cyndi” due to the fact that she fears the man. Obviously this is why she is an “ex-girlfriend.”

Nothing.

Now there's a new fun twist to this drama.

What a scumbag.

What a scumbag.

That's putting it mildly. He is a sociopath just like Scott Peterson. They need to have their way and control over everyone and everything around them. I hope his "fiancee'" has a living will. She is probably going to need it when he gets tired of her.

The question here is, who determined that Terri Schiavo met the criteria for being in PVS? While 14 independent doctors — including six neurologists — adamantly refute the diagnosis of PVS, stating that therapy would be beneficial to Ms. Schiavo, Judge Greer has consistently excluded their testimony in favor of opinions from four doctors that adhere to the PVS diagnosis.

Of the 4 doctors selected to be the court’s medical authorities, three were hand-picked by Michael Schiavo and one was selected by Judge Greer.

Surprise, surprise!

Testimony from Terry's nurse...... Any time Terri would be sick, like with a UTI or fluid buildup in her lungs, colds, pneumonia, Michael would be visibly excited, thrilled even, hoping that she would die. He would call me, as I was the nurse supervisor on the floor, and ask for every little detail about her temperature, blood pressure, etc., and would call back frequently asking if she was dead yet. He would blurt out “I’m going to be rich!,” and would talk about all the things he would buy when Terri died, which included a new car, a new boat, and going to Europe, among other things.

Remember, Terri's husband bought her life insurance policy from his new wife.

A lot of facts. Here's a link that shows the 40 or so legal screwups of Judge Greer on this case. :

Dr. Ronald Cranford, is on the board of the Euthanasia Society of America, has ties to the Hemlock Society and even advocates denial of spoon-feeding for the disabled.

To say the very least, the word impartial cannot be used when discussing the medical testimony provided in this case, neither can the word thorough. In fact, the “deck was stacked” in Michael Schiavo’s favor, something easily done when one is the “dealer.”

How can anyone ignore these facts? How can they still allow her so-called husband to be her guardian after how he's treated her all these years?

Michael Schiavo has petitioned to have Terri cremated immediately after her death.

No autopsy to find out what really happened to her.

Governor of Florida calls in Feds.

"I'm not sure we can get it done here in Florida," Martinez quoted (Gov.) Bush as saying just after a new Schiavo measure stalled in the Florida Legislature. "Do whatever you can federally."

It seems the Governor of the State has found no relief and lost confidence in the Legislature and Judiciary and has called in the Feds. It can't now be said that the Feds have no business there.

The Executive Branch wields the authority of enforcement, security and investigation, Congressional investigations aside. Congress should step aside and ask the President to handle this.

Time for Federal Marshals and agents in black shiny FBI shoes.

Does anyone know how many protected species of animals there are with only a brain stem an no cerebral cortex or plants an trees with no brain at all? If Terrie were an alligator with a brain that weighs 8 grams and will fit it a teaspoon she would have every liberal in the country screaming for her continued existence.
