Coming at it from the angle of being a 42 year old woman who would be in Terri's situation, but for the grace of God in helping me escape my abuser, I can never accept what's being done to her. I can never accept cold blooded murder.
My elderly mother called me from Florida yesterday. She's scared, but can't afford to move.
I got a message from Cheryl Ford, RN this morning. For those who don't know, she's close to the family and keeps some of us updated on events. I've made my call, and sent my fax. I hope everyone will do the same.
Only one court hears the facts of the case. The rest hear on process. I point out that we have now have had dozens people freed from death row when the facts of the case are re-heard... and found that the original findings were flawed. Whittmore had the opportunity to do a de novo review of the case, but it seems he didn't avail himself of it. So only Greer has heard the facts so far. No conspiracy needed.

and he chose not to, thinking maybe: well, hey they recalled Congress, the President of these United States flew from Texas back to the White House and signed the bill in the middle of the night, so I could review the case de nova -- but they didn't say I HAD to! Geesh! Congress and the President indicated that they viewed this as an extraordinary situation requiring extraordinary measures . . . he treats it as business as usual, parsing legalisms . . .
He did not even extend ordinary courtesy to the efforts of the other two branches of government who acted on an emergency basis. He waited 24 hours . . . a slap in the face to the Executive and Legislative Branches.
So we have the legislative and executive branch vs. the judiciary. Should be obvious, but apparently we now defer everything to the courts so the judiciary will win. One clearly unequal branch of gov't.
The problem is that both Bushs left this in the hands of the judges. In some ways that is criminal negligence. Florida had a proposal to outlaw starvation and dehydration in the absence of a living will. That would have done the trick but Jeb could not push it through. The Bushs are living the old gag about throwing a ten foot rope to a drowning person 15 feet away from the boat and saying "but I met them more than half way"
I fear that Terri's only chances now lie with the 11th Circuit, or an executive action by the President of the United States to enforce the law that was passed just yesterday.
You mentioned something I have been hoping could be done. That is that President Bush issue an executive order to place Terri in protective custody of Governor Bush and have the feeding tube replaced. I keep praying.
I find this interesting.

Perhaps...perhaps not. The 11th Circuit is yet to weigh in. We should keep calling, praying. God in Heaven can weigh in too.

Yes, we are to be always opposing the evil that tempts us - by trusting that Christ has already defeated its power in our lives, but not necessarily in others lives because we can't. That wasn't the reason I commented - it was because it is always wrong to curse another, no matter how evil they are. Cursing evil is not fighting evil. Praying for those that commit evil is. And it draws us closer to the Lord. That was the purpose of my comment.
What gets me about this case is that NON-BLOOD family members are being the decision makers and BLOOD FAMILY is being ignored. Time to change the laws.
Exactly, they call it their "libertarian" side and stress that the "government has no business in family matters." Well, when was murdering one's spouse by judicial decree a "family matter." Or they ask, "Who's gonna pay for Terri's care?" The American people as a whole are at best asleep at the switch or at worst sick themselves.
Corruption, vice, pride, fasle ideologies, strong delusions.
Your post is right about Terri's purpose in suffering, but don't make the assumption that this is Democrats v. Republicans. There are many Democrats who are pulling for Terri, and many Republicans who are rooting against her.
I'm having a hard time too, but so far I've got through to 2 of them. Keep on trying and God bless you.

Well, we all learned that you cannot trust polls during the election, so what makes you think that the pollsters are reliable and unbiased now?
