Well, if he has any options, now is the time to exercise them.

Would you want a President Hillary Clinton to step in because she thinks something is more important than states' rights? Terri's life is vitally important. But so is the future and therefore, so is precedence.

The moment Congress, exercising it's authority under the U.S. Constitution, assigned this case federal jurisdiction, it became a FEDERAL matter.

Stop it with this stupid states rights nonsense. That dog won't hunt.

Oh, boy. Now I have to go find the federal statute and cite it for you. What you have posted are the congressional rules for finding a witness in contempt, which as I said is different from the federal statute (that's a law, bigeasy) that makes it a felony to interfere.

Give me minute or two.

At least she could go outside and get the food and water her faith allows.

Fox just said that DOJ has filed as having interest in the 11th District en banc meeting.

Because it wants the 11th Cir to grant the preliminary injunction restoring the feeding tube. They are well within their rights to do so, as they are attempting to enforce legislation that was duly enacted by Congress.

I know, I know, Terri did not have written instructions,

Precisely, so stop wasting everyone's time with meaningless and irrelevant hypotheticals.

"I believe that the next 24 to 36 hours will be very interesting and I believe he will step in if the courts do not."

Boy, do I hope you're right! I just emailed the A.G., Jeb, the Pres., and every Florida senator.

Yes, and if President Bush broke the law he could be impeached.

What law? The law that permits death by starvation? You can't break a law that is null and void. The situation is analogous to slavery. The Dred Scott decision was null and void. There is a law higher than the Supreme Court.

Regardless, even by Constitutional standards the Supreme Court was intended to be the weakest branch of government. I don't see any problem with Bush telling the courts to try to enforce their decision.

Those same young men and women who are denied free speech by campaign finance laws?

Then if you are going to ask him to take that risk, you should be willing to take that risk as well. If you want President Bush to break the law, than you should be willing to do so as well. Let us know when you get to Florida, if you get arrested for trying to give her food and water, just explain the law to them that you just explained to me. I'm sure they'll understand.

He can only do what is legal for him to do and within his constitutional powers. His first and most important duty is to uphold the Constitution of the United States.

Which is what he would be doing by overruling unconstitutional actions by the Court.

Yep, those are the one. They are also the ones who are told that the law allows creeps to burn the flag that they are protecting and defending. You know how it is, the law is......fungible.

Then give him time to prove it. He can't go off half cocked.

That is another problem that must be addressed. Our courts are totally out of control. Their rulings are inconsistant to the point where the law is becoming a joke.

That is exactly 100% correct. And it's not happening by accident. That's the scary part.

His action would be effective. Mine would not. I would probably go if I didn't have a family to support.

The President has no authority to determine which laws he will follow and which laws he will not. If he undertakes any action because he believes the court order starving Terri Schiavo is immoral, then he will be acting as a private citizen. As such, it is clear that you believe this law to be immoral. So, I ask again, why are you relying on President Bush to do something outside of his Constitutional authority. Why don't you go insert Terri Schiavo's feeding tube yourself?

If the order is null and void under natural law, then you should have no problem breaking whatever laws are necessary yourself to get the feeding tube inserted.
