Minutemen to cover larger area of border than originally planned

"One of the organizers of the Minuteman Project has reported that, due to the unexpected number of volunteers that have committed themselves to the mission, even more of the border will be guarded than was originally planned.

In addition to the strip of border between the Huachuca Mtns. and Douglas, AZ, additional volunteers will be deployed in the Columbus, NM area and both east and west of Nogales, AZ."

Evidently the Minuteman Project has more volunteers than they are letting us know about.

Had an interesting news story here on Texas cable channel.
They said that during Holy Week Mexican Nationalists come across the border to shop at a mall in San Antonio.
But they said due to the "TIGHT BORDER CONTROL" (HUH?)
they were concerned there wouldnt be as many shoppers this year. (always about money)

Tight border control? News to me!

you think?

How long do you think it would last?

I figured it would, so long as there isnt any violence or lynchings (for lack of a better term), it wouldnt be stopped for a while.....

From what I've gathered about the Minutemen, so far, is that they're a bunch of good, and well intentioned, people who are doing a necessary job.

That being said there are people just waiting for an accident to happen that can be blamed on the Minutemen. If some illegal Mexican winds up as coyote bait we can be sure the Minutemen will be blamed for it.

I've heard through unofficial sources that there has been lots of observer training going on prior to the 4/1 official startup date.

Watch for the drug runners to murder some illegal crossers and try to blame it on the minutemen.

These people have to be stopped before someone gets hurt.

always possible I guess....

the MM will have to be careful. If they run into some drug runners, they will become targets themselves....

It should last as long as it takes for the Mexican Government to realize the problem is now also their's instead of ours alone.

What concerns me is the death of some 55 year old anti-immigrant keyboard commando who leaves his trailer to join these minuteman kooks to 'stop dos meheekans.'

I wish them luck and I hope there use extreme caution in who they accept to work with them. There are a lot of people vehemently opposed to their mission. I wouldn't be surprised if some of the volunteers were actually looking to cause problems.

Couple of months I figure. Most Americans don't know or care anything about it.
But they can tell you the latest standings in several sports, or what happened on the latest inane TV show.
America has grown soft and will no longer protect it's borders or citizens.

They are getting beat up by the MSM and - gasp - Bush himself, who doesn't understand they are not vigillantes. They are only there to watch, to "spot" illegals and call the locations in to Border Patrol.

They really need a good media guy to get their message out. Hope someone who knows them will advise them of that.

The drug runners will be the most serious threat. Busting someones flow of American cash won't be appreciated.
