And thats when the parents should have intervened and took away legal guardianship.
They didn't try to at that point? Why?
Does anyone know when the fight for guardianship began?
It has been stated by Terri's friend Frances Casler that Terri's parents did not want to become "embroiled" with Michael. Everytime they confronted him about something, he would deny them visiting rights or make things worse for Terri.
I think in the beginning of this struggle, they simply thought they were going about it the best way.
And remember, the family did not even have access to her medical records until 2002 or 2003. They were unaware of the bone scan of 1991 which showed all the bone injuries she had had.
They tried. When that failed, I would have killed my 'son-in'law' to protect my daughter.
They tried. Michael got the malpractice award Nov 92. He stopped all therapy & put a DNR on her chart 3 months later - Feb 93. In Aug 93 he tried to stop treatment for a life-threatening infection, and in Sep 93 the Schindlers petitioned the court to have him removed as guardian. The sut was dismissed in Feb 94.
They tried again with Greer and were again denied.
