Michael Schiavo Plans to Cremate Terri
Michael Schiavo has taken steps that will prevent investigators from examining Terri Schiavo's body for evidence of abuse after she dies – a suspicion her family has repeatedly raised as her death grows more imminent.
Schiavo's attorney George Felos told the Washington Post on Friday that Terri will be cremated and buried in a plot owned by Michael's family in Pennsylvania.
Terri's parents had filed a request with the court to block the cremation plans, saying it would violate the religious beliefs of their daughter, who was a practicing a Catholic.
But as with every other motion filed in the case on behalf of Bob and Mary Schindler, the Florida courts have rejected the request.
A 1991 bone scan performed on Terri Schiavo showed unexplained injuries to her vertebrae and legs.
Terri's brother, Bobby Schindler, told Fox News Channel's "Hannity & Colmes" on Thursday that a doctor has testified that she might have been strangled before she was found unconscious in her home in February 1990.
...and Satan plans to cremate Michael. Turnabout is fair play.
Catholics have an objection to cremation?
It's called destroying the evidence. If he says it's against her Catholic faith to do an autopsy but denies her the sacrament of communion, what does that make him?
The perfect crime grinds on to a predictable conclusion. Except I'm surprised Terri did not tell Michael she wanted her ashes dumped into the sea from 10 miles out to save the cost of a burial plot.
No, they do not. Additionally, suicides may be interned in a Catholic cemetary.
Cremation was made 'okay' by the Catholic church in 1963. It is not the preferred method of disposal. Cremation is a hallmark of pagan culture. The three abrahamic faiths are the only ones who do not burn their dead as a general practice. What people do for the sake of saving money is another thing.
Excellent!
The Schiavo family will probably also not allow the Schindlers to visit the gravesite.
The local coroner can demand an autopsy. With all t he questions in this case, he should, to gather as much information as he can.
Looks like you're right. i'm not expecting Jeb Bush or W to play Columbo -- there will be no investigations that could keep this issue in the newspapers. They want the Terri episode forgotten (they're spooked by the polls), and they'll get their wish.
LOL
Seems like their lawyers should have been working on this for a while, anticipating this very thing.
Again, all we ever know is what the media feels like telling us --NOT what very well may be taking place.
Let's hope that the reason Terri's parent's lawyers are not in front of the cameras telling us about this is because they are behind the scenes working on this very aspect of the case.
Not per se. Cremation is acceptable to the church so long as the ashes are interred and not, for example, kept in an urn on the mantle. Since Schiavo plans on doing that then he is not violating Church canonical provisions. Traditional burial is still preferred.
Please explain what you mean.
Flamin' BTTT!!
Terri will be cremated and buried in a plot owned by Michael's family in Pennsylvania.
And the chances that Bob and Mary Schindler will be allowed to pay respects at the grave of Terri?
NONE...
I would rather have Bob and Mary Schindler as my advocates than michael schiavo.
Oh the horror, Bob and Mary Schindler are criminal for committing the crime of being concerned for their daughter and her survival.
MS is rotten to the core. I'm sure that the Schindler family will have no recourse over this, either. Cremation is the perfect way to hide foul play.
There was a prohibition, until fairly recently, that Catholics could not be cremated. It was changed to allowing cremation, but the ashes must be buried as a coffin would be. If I'm not mistaken, ashes may not be allowed in the church for the funeral mass. The cremation is supposed to be done afterwards. I'm Catholic, but never paid too much attention to this issue until now.
Traditional Catholics usually don't wish to be cremated.
from the CATHOLIC ENCYCLOPEDIA (1917)-
http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/04481c.htm
“In conclusion, it must be remembered that there is nothing directly opposed to any dogma of the Church in the practice of cremation, and that, if ever the leaders of this sinister movement so far control the governments of the world as to make this custom universal, it would not be a lapse in the faith confided to her were she obliged to conform.”
