BELLEFONTE, Pa. A small plane carrying two families to a college lacrosse game crashed Saturday, killing all six people aboard, authorities said.
The two families had been on vacation in Florida and were going to Penn State University (search) to watch pilot Jeffrey Jacober's son play in lacrosse game, according to a family friend.
Witnesses said the single-engine plane sputtered and hit the ground nose-first near a construction site, fewer than 10 miles from the airport in State College, said Tim Boyde, a Centre County (search) official who was at the scene.
May they rest in peace.
wow
So sad...
Who would have thought?
May Jesus our Lord take them into his Kingdom on this the the day, we celebrate the Resurrection of our Lord.
Ops4 God BLess America!
According to DU, they were Democrats and Bush (Rove) may have caused the plane to crash, a la Paul Wellstone.
Also According to the DU: HAPPY NON RELIGIOUS AFFILIATED NEAR SOLSTICE HOLIDAY!
(Can also stand-in for that Holiday at the end of December)
I blame Jeb Bush, and the Satanic Cult he heads....
Huh?
Prayers. How sad.
Prayers for these families.
Two families? Can we say overloaded?
That is a bit heavy, unless the aircraft is a Caravan, but it is doable for some single engine aircraft, however the load appears to be a moot subject for it appears to be engine failure which caused the aircraft to go down.
You are absolutely right. Sometimes I am so ashamed to have them on this site that it embarrasses me. God rest the souls of everyone in the crash and may He comfort their families and friends.
Lots of single engine planes can hold 6 people.
I know they can, however more of them than not have basically "jump seats" in the rear for children and if a large amount of baggage is on board it can bring an aircraft to borderline overload and falling out of CG.
Again, however like I stated previously, it appears to be engine related and not load relate in respect to this particular tragedy.
This was about 6 miles from my house. But I didn't learn of it until late last night on ABC radio news.
"The plane was headed from Naples, Fla., to the airport in nearby State College, and the pilot was attempting an instrument landing approach, Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Les Dorr said."

Thanks. Was the pilot instrument rated or do you know?
