Man Pierces Glasses Permanently On Face

Sooy: LASIK Surgery, Contacts Too Expensive

UPDATED: 10:35 am EST March 22, 2005

A man in Texas who said LASIK surgery was too expensive to correct his eye sight had the bridge of his glasses permanently pierced into his nose, according to a Local 6 News report.

James Sooy was tired of wrestling with his eyeglasses and instead of contacts decided to have a post pierced into his face for permanent lenses.

"These, you know they are stuck to my face, with the other ones, if they were pulled, they would just come off real simple," Sooy said. "They're easier to work with and there is no safety risks involved."

Obscurities owner and professional piercer Allen Faulkner said the piercing was like any other.

Sooy said the piercing fit his lifestyle. Most medical experts warn that many piercing procedures could cause permanent damage.

LOL!

I don't blame him a bit. Glasses sucked. Contacts would get cloudy on the motorcycle on a cold night. Lasik did the trick for me....

I had RK in 1993, and it worked great. Even now, only need glasses for reading (but I'd like to get lasik for that, too).

Velcro would have worked. The black tape across your forehead would have been unsightly, but think of the savings.

1. I can't believe that this (cough) 'man' is a native Texan

No offense but, He is not a native Texan...many people make that claim but this nut job is just another import from some god awful hellhole. If this kid is a native...then we just found Dan Rather's long lost son!

From the South Park quotes thread:

and when Cartman gets the glasses and the boys ask him why they're stapled to his face.....

"I'll tell you why! One...my doctor's a goddamned a--hole...and that's about it!"

In this case, I don't believe it's the doctor...

Wonder if he'll have to clean the lenses every time he blows his nose after that?

I have worn glasses for 40 years. If the darned things slide down that much, get them adjusted, and if that fails, get one of those hideous sport straps to hold them on.

This is nuts. Have you noticed the Ubangi style ear plugs that seem to be catching on in this set? I think lip disks are next...

Why is he a moron? To each his own maybe he doesn`t like the idea of contacts (like myself) and got tired of the glass sliding down his face such as mine does. I dont think he asked your opinion.
