I think it's helpful that they both are soldiers and patriots. Many marriages could not hold up under the tremendous stress and drastic life changes. I found it interesting that they discussed the possibility of being killed but not how they would deal with being seriously injured. Looks like they have done a darned fine job of handling it.

Especially interesting was her tale of the other pilot visiting her and not revealing his artificial leg until much later in their discussion. I can't feel self pity for my little daily woes after that! :o)

And the Fisher House looks like a very worthy cause for a donation.

Yes..they are lucky to have each other..I see many challenges ahead for her but if anyone can face them..I believe she can. Her appreciation for the 'peer' volunteers was evident.

Thank you to all who serve our country.

I was so thrilled when I happened by C-span and there she was...I had prayed for her recovery. What an incredible spirit!

Some of the amputees she and her husband talked about (who visit our wounded at Walter Reed and Bethesda) are organized by a great guy, Vietnam Vet, former First Recon Marine named John Devine. I met John at the Kerry Lied Rally and have become a big fan of what he and his fellow disabled vets have been doing.

Very quickly...that same weekend Major Duckworth was wounded, CNN was to have shown a special segment on John's group. They had bent over backward over a number of weeks to accomodate CNN camera crews and to be interviewed, but at the last minute were informed their story had been cut way down to a slight mention. These guys were devastated and angry ... they really believed media bias played a role just as it does with the lack of reporting good news from Iraq.

So very glad C-span talked to the Major... what a true hero and example for us all. I watched in awe and admiration....
