In his strongest comments yet on the Terri Schiavo case, actor Mel Gibson calls her killing "nothing more than state sanctioned murder.”
The actor and director spoke out Wednesday night in a telephone interview with Fox News’ Sean Hannity.
"I heard their cry for help,” Gibson explained his public comments. Gibson insisted that Terri Schiavo is not in a vegetative state.
Gibson said he decided to take a public stand because "it is completely wrong to deprive this poor woman from food and water.”
He added that the court ordered method of killing – depriving her of basic sustenance -- "is a prolonged and cruel execution.”
Gibson said he is closely following the case and is astounded by the developments.
"I just sit here watching this whole scenario play out in front of me with my mouth wide open, that our country has come to this,” he said, adding, "I think it’s a really black day.”
The actor offered little hope for Terri Schiavo at this point, describing the appeals as "a little too little too late.”
"It’s nothing more than state sanctioned murder,” Gibson continued.
He was also disturbed that a local Florida judge was given the unquestioned power to sentence Schiavo to death.
"All the big guys, they’ve got their hands tied by some tin-horned judge down there,” he said. "Common, when they want to whip a judge they got no problem getting Judge Moore in a heart beat.”
"It’s so wrong and I watch it, appalled and stunned, that we have gotten to this.”

We need a law that will enable we, the faithful, to incarcerate those, the unfaithful, and take away their rights as citizens, if they are in fact citizens, in which case, if they are not, we should immediately have a poll to find out what we should do.
Reminds me of how everyone looked the other way when the Jews were being murdered in the Holocaust. No one knew anything and no one spoke up. How do these creeps differ today? In my opinion, they don't differ in any way.
It is good to hear that there is someone in the popular entertainment industry who is not on the far left end of the political spectrum.

In another light, there is a thought that goes through my mind. This may be an odd thought, but it almost seems like there is some sort of a question which arises concerning the sexual proclivities or attitudes (maybe even latent) of some of the key players in this fiasco. Mikey was a tall, arguably good looking, well-spoken,forceful, convincing young man (getting a little long in the tooth and paunchy at this point). He seems to have been able to get exactly what he wanted at every turn regarding Terry, even when it did not make common sense that he should. Now, I am not suggesting any sort of actual illicit sexual relationships (outside the "other woman" one), not in real life, but perhaps fantasy attraction? This is all just so odd that it beggars the question, "What could possibly, besides money, be hidden in this whole mess?" I'm not accusing anyone, have no firsthand knowledge, but it IS all warped for some reason. I realize we would never know for sure, for it is impossible to know what goes on in any man's mind or daydreams, even when all looks normal on the surface.
Suppose the judge had ordered her hung in the public square. I bet the President, the Governor and the Congress would have done something then.
But they do it this way, the effect is the same, and suddenly everybody is neutered. I don't buy it.
This is a turf battle with a handicapped woman being held hostage by the Sharks in order to show the Jets (and everyone else) just who really runs the neighborhood.

Oh, piffle! If your husband started having an affair with say, Lisa Ann, moved in with her while still coming back home to visit you every couple of weeks or so just to keep tabs on you and bark orders, and insisted on ruling every aspect of your life (or death), has children with her, and you're telling me Lisa Ann and their children aren't a "conflict of interest" precluding him from having your best interest at heart? Oh, and add to that, you suddenly win the lottery and he controls all that money because in the interim, you've had a stroke and become sort of disabled. Now, he is filing petitions to euthanise you because you "would not want to live like that". Since you can no longer speak or write and are weak and bedridden, no one knows for sure how you feel. Not to mention that "conflict of interest" IS a matter at the heart of the law on guardianship of anyone.

IMHO it is incumbent upon us, "We the People", not to sway the legislator's opinions but it is our duty to form their opinions. In essence, they are our agents with an obligation to carry out our will, not that of their own nor that of their party.
The Constitution called for the establishment of three coequal branches of government to do the people's business. Over the course of years their missions have been allowed to become clouded and posturing for a superior position has ensued. All three branches, as they become absorbed in self importance, fail to overlook a fourth branch which is Superior to the three individually and collectively. This fourth "branch" is WE THE PEOPLE.
All three branches are of our creation and serve at our pleasure. It might be in their individual and collective best interest to reflect on the reality and fragility of their existence.
Many have said that the Schiavo case will be with us long after she passes. Mel is dead on target that this country is allowing this state sanctioned murder to occur and it is appalling.
Here is a "FR'instance" that should give everyone pause for thought. One, single, narrow-minded judge in FL has shown the world what it takes to shut down the state government of FL, the state legislature, the governor's office, the Congress of the US and the President of the US. It takes a single judge with a gavel willing to issue a court order.
Now, "FR'instance", suppose Kim Jong-Il or AQ get their hands on an ICBM or two and decide to shoot them our way after adding a nuclear device or even just a dirty bomb on top? And, suppose that, right after they fire these missiles, they make a satellite phone call to their envoy standing right outside of the Pinellas county courthouse and he gets a certain FL judge to issue a court order blocking the FL governor and/or state legislature, ANY state governor or legislature, the President or the Congress from taking ANY retaliatory action?
The brothers Bush and Judger Greer have combined to show the world what it takes to keep us from doing ANYTHING to protect ourselves. Now, suppose that Saddam Hussein had known that just before the start of the Iraq War?

I know how he feels.
It is now clear to me that judges who proclaim adherence to the original intent of the Constitution are not enough for me. They have to also demonstrate an acceptance of the original principles of the Founders also, among which is the principle that life comes from God.
It's the abandonment of that principle that has caused us all this immense grief. As a result the law simply refuses to accept a moral basis any longer.
Because our nation was founded on that principle the abandonment of it has made us into something the Founders feared rather than sought.
