Mexico's President Vicente Fox is preparing to respond militarily to a group of U.S volunteers who plan to patrol the U.S.-Mexican border starting tomorrow, positioning more than a thousand troops nearby, according to an Arizona TV station.
"The Mexican military is on stand-by," reports NBC's Tucson affiliate KVOA. "One unit has about a thousand soldiers. They're located just across the border." Over the last week spokesmen for the border patrol volunteers, who dub themselves Minutemen, have said they will not attempt to detain Mexican illegals, but rather report them to the Border Patrol and track them till they're apprehended.
Despite the assurances, Mexican officials met with the mayor of Douglas, Arizona on Tuesday to discuss how they will handle potential violence, KVOA said.
Last week President Fox warned at a Mexico City press conference:
"We totally reject the idea of these migrant-hunting groups. We will use the law, international law and even U.S. law to make sure these types of groups, which are a minority, will not have any opportunity to progress."
Fox only wants to make sure all those Minutemen don't sneak across the border at night to look for jobs in Mexico.
Are these our guys? Or theirs?
This should have nothing to do with right to defend our Country because the Constitution delegates that right to the Feds. I assume, however, that these undocumented invaders are trespassing upon private property. In most states, trespass is unlawful as long as the property is clearly posted. The Minutemen are not protecting our Country (wink, wink), but rather, taking reasonable steps to prevent an unlawful trespass onto private property. Indeed, if the US Government were to try to stop the Minutemen from taking lawful steps to protect private property from unlawful trespass, then an argument could be made that the Feds are effectively taking property for public use without just compensation in violation of the 5th Amendment.
One other thought: Since trespass is a civil wrong as well as a crime, the owners of the border properties may want to file a lawsuit against the Mexican Government for injunctive relief and damages to the extent the Mexican Government is aiding and abetting the unlawful trespass onto private property.
Yes, they are busy; my husband is one. However, to get the point across, send in the ones who are stateside. I think you missed the point of the post. When the job needs to get done, send in the Marines.
LOL she looks like she's having a grand time!
Tell me any one of us would have a different expression on our face, if we got some trigger time on that beast.
"...Interestingly, they've all been packed into two 1974 Ford pickup trucks.."
With really nice tuck-and-roll interiors and fuzzy dice...
Send in the Captain!
Because the East German border wall was primarily there to keep East Germans in, while our wall would be there to keep people out.
Let me know the rally point. I'll meet you there. Armed, of course.
That's mean, Laz. That girl looks about 12 or 13. I certainly wouldn't want any "trigger time" with her and I wouldn't call her a "beast"!
Oh...you meant the...
Never mind. :o)
Well I wouldn't be holding my breath if I were you expecting GWB to send the Marines to the border. We can't even get him to send the Border Patrol! LMAO
Semper Fi,
Kelly
If the Minutemen await in Phoenix for illegals, will the Mexican army watch from Tempe?
Well, there's the intelligence school at Ft Huachuca, in Sierra Vista.
Maybe they can form a phalanx with their pens, or think really hard at the enemy!
