The case for starving and dehydrating Terri Schiavo to death was built on hypocrisy and deception. The culture of death revealed its face in the propaganda campaign for Terri Schiavos demise. Perhaps the most noteworthy fact of the entire ordeal, other than the killing of an innocent woman by starvation, was how thoroughly the American people were lied to throughout the entire affair.
Consider, for instance, the major media claim that death by starvation and dehydration is painless. According to the New York Times: Patients who are terminally ill and conscious and refuse food and drink at the end of life say that they do not generally experience pangs of hunger, since their bodies do not need much food. The Times quoted Dr. Sean Morrison of the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York as saying: They generally slip into a peaceful coma. Its very quiet, its very dignified, its very gentle. The Los Angeles Times quoted another expert, Dr. Perry G. Fine of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization, as saying of starvation: Theres nothing unpleasant about it in fact it can be quite blissful and euphoric.... Its a very smooth, graceful and elegant way to go.
Of course, one does not have to be an expert to recognize that this distorted view of death by starvation and dehydration defies common sense. If starvation is not all that bad, then why should we be concerned about the plight of famine victims? And if Terri Schiavo was not experiencing pain, then why was she given morphine? Revealingly, the same forces that supported withholding food and water from Terri did not criticize giving her morphine to control the pain they say she did not have.

Their side will fight, apparently. Ours won't.
Jeb has no guts, no courage. This is what happens when you elect someone from a blueblood background of wealth and privilege. They have no fire in the belly, no gumption, and no willingness to take risks. Because Jeb matured in a safe, pampered environment, he felt no reason to do anything that might rock the boat. This passiveness and inaction which stems from privilege helped cost Terri Schiavo her life.
Jeb bush did take some action. But it was too late and not enough.
This is for anyone who can answer it. I just want to get to the bottom of this particular question. I heard that Terri never had an MRI. But someone arguing for the other side said that was a lie, and that she indeed did have an MRI. What's the story on that, did she or didn't she?
Exactly. The other side NEVER backs down!
This also describes many who not raised in privilege so that's not it.
Jeb Bush flies around South America trying to promote bogus "free trade agreements" like CAFTA and FTAA but would not lift a finger to save Terry Schiavo.
=======
Why would he help Terri? That would be the decent, humane and constitutional thing to do !!!
A dsigusting lie that we all know from experience is a LIE!!! They are certain of their power to BRAINWASH the American people.
She didn't.
He only took SAFE action. A daring man, a man driven by the Holy Spirit, would have found some quasi-legal pretext, however threadbare, to raid that hospice, rescue Terri, reinsert the tube, and give her the rehab that would have made her a thinking functioning person. All these quasi-conservatives and quasi-christians who are saying not to blame Jeb but to blame judges like Greer are no different from persons who are soaked by the rain, yet do not bother to open an umbrella.
Is that so hard to understand?
Is it the right of the Courts or a family member to undo that decision and do what THEY want.
I am also deeply disappointed in the lack of courage of many Republicans, particularly in Sen. Frist who could only pass a meaningless bill. Let's never forget however that it was a perverted judicial oligarchy that literally ordered Terri's starvation to death and illegalized all attempts to feed her. The Republican legislators and executives may not have done enough to save her, but it was our entire judicial system that murdered her.
You cannot use MRI with those probes in her brain.
Are you truly suggesting that she really was cognizant of her surroundings?
I pains me to see the hateful, over-the-top rantings against Jeb Bush.
I haven't walked in his shoes. I only know he did more to help Terry Schindler than any of the mouths that are now criticizing him. She would have been dead years ago if not for Jeb Bush.
But Jeb--and his brother--had the ultimate solution; the solution of force of arms. Judges, like the Pope, have no divisions. As I said earlier, to moan about evil Judge Greer but Beb and Dubya not taking the action I have delinated above is no different than complaining about the rain, but not bothering to open an umbrella.
Ole Mikey whisked her off without telling her folks to California for some kind of "experimental treatment" that isn't really anything I know much about. This treatment included putting some kind of shunt in her head that is platinum. The docs there recommended pulling it out, but, dontchaknow, he never did that for some reason. And, yet, having the shunt(s--more than 1?) prevented an MRI from being done. Now isn't that just such a shame? Who would have thought?
I need a drink.
Sorry granny, but you have it wrong. It is true SOME individuals raised in humble backgrounds may not have much gumption, but is a sure thing that those folks born with a proverbial silver spoon in their month do not have it because they never have had to exhibit any bold initiative.
Thanks again!
