Michael Will Hide Where Terri Schiavo is Buried From Family

Pinellas Park, FL (LifeNews.com) -- Michael Schiavo plans to keep the location of where he will bury Terri Schiavo's ashes a secret and will prevent Terri's family from knowing. His brother told the media on Thursday that Terri's family would show up and cause a spectacle if they found out.

"If Mike knew they would come in peace, he would have no problem with it," Scott Schiavo, Michael Schiavo's brother, told AP.

A complete autopsy will be performed on Terri's body by the local county medical examiner's office. Once that is completed, Michael plans to have Terri's body cremated and her ashes buried in Pennsylvania.

Scott told the Associated Press the ashes will be buried in a burial plot left to Michael by an aunt and uncle.

"We've already said goodbye," Bobby Schindler said when asked about not knowing where his sister would be buried.

Concerning Michael's latest decision snubbing his family, Bobby said, "He's been doing this kind of stuff for 15 years. What would make him stop now?"

Terri's parents fought for years to stop the cremate, citing Terri's Catholic religious beliefs, and asked Judge George Greer to allow Terri to be buried in Florida, closer to her family. Greer declined both requests.

Terri's parents and her family did not discuss the burial issue during their remarks to the media following Terri's death. However, Paul O'Donnell, a Franciscan monk who has been helping the family during the last two weeks, said they would hold a Catholic mass for Terri even though they will not have her body present.

The mass will take place sometime next week.

A spokesman for the Pinellas County medical examiner's office said Terri's body would be given to Michael on Friday for the cremation process to begin.

The autopsy on Terri's body may yield a preliminary look in two to three days but the office will not have final results for two to three weeks.

Trust: A Tribute to Michael Schiavo

by James Glaser

Last year at this time my wife, Charmaine, was dying in a hospice program. She too had a tube that she could be fed with and like Terri Schiavo told her husband, Charmaine told me that she wanted nothing extraordinary done to prolong her life.

When she was no longer able to verbally express her wishes, Charmaine had to trust that I would stand firm and stop any move to keep her alive with artificial means. It was hard to do that. I loved her and didn’t want her to go. I wanted just a little more time with her so I could say everything I had said to her over again, but I also knew that I had the very awesome responsibility to live by her wishes.

Charmaine trusted me and that meant a lot. No matter what, I had to think about all the talks we had about her dying. I was lucky, because no one protested her wishes.

Michael Schiavo’s life would have been so much easier if he would have just walked away from his wife and let people keep her alive for as long as they could. According to the New York Times, Terri Schiavo’s "heart stopped because of an undiagnosed potassium deficiency, on February 26, 1990." That is fifteen years ago and since that time she has been in a "persistent vegetative state, meaning she could breathe on her own and had periods of wakefulness, but was incapable of thought, memory, or emotion."

Michael Schiavo tried for several years to rehabilitate his wife, even taking her to California for an experimental brain treatment, but nothing worked. The media never tells us about this, but there have been many reports of groups offering Michael big money to walk away, and he didn’t.

It took a lot of guts to do what this husband did for his wife. He stayed married to her when it would have been much easier to give the responsibility of her care to her parents, who challenged his right to make decisions for her.

CNN reported that Terri Schiavo’s husband Michael was with her when she died.

I was with Charmaine when she died too and even though she was in the hospice program and we knew she was going to die, when it actually happened, it was devastating.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Michael in his time of grief and to all of Terri’s loved ones. I have nothing but respect and admiration for the job Michael Schiavo did in keeping with his wife’s wishes. I know it was a gut wrenching job and there is no doubt in my mind, that many times he thought of walking away, but Terri put her trust in her husband and he honored that trust. What more can a spouse ask for.

My first thought upon seeing this was, "it will have to be an unmarked grave, or someone is going to discover it". Probably about 10 minutes after she is buried there.

To those who say he needs a good PR person, he may actually have been advised that by keeping his peace until the time he chooses, he will be able to sell his story for a lot more.

I guess nobody told him that exhuming ashes would be of no help to a pathologist. He must have thought up the secret location thing before he decided on cremation and forgot.

"I don't blame him for that decision. Since Terri's private situation was whipped up by the Schindlers into a "cause celebre", her burial place would become a pilgrimage site if it were known. One of Terri's Schindler relatives said yesterday that she's now in a better place and at peace; If only that person would have helped convince the Schindlers to let her go Home many years ago!"

I would suggest that a fund be set up and private property be bought for a Terri Schiavo public memorial. It should be erected in a location approved by her parents and her brother and sister. How many here, including myself and many people I know, would support this?..Pat Boone has said she can be compared to Joan of Arc..Perhaps he would help us with such a memorial..
Even if Michael Schiavo just throws her ashes away somewhere, he cannot still her spirit, for her legacy is growing with each passing day..

"Laugh! He will be followed by the media and amateur sleuths 24/7." ---- I doubt that would be a problem for him. He can just have his co-conspirator judger Greer issue restraining orders or some such thing.

Good point. Greer can get anything done.

Good idea. Is there any vacant property next to Greer's place?

Well, this is in Pennsylvania, so it's out of Greer's control once the ashes cross the Florida border.

1 gram of Terri's ashes for $10,000! Do we hear $15,000?

re: A decent person would be making back door deals through his lawyer so that the funeral could happen with the family under the condition that they keep the location secret. Hold the burial after the media interest has cooled down. This is just plain spitefulness on Michael's part.

This is also just plain stupidity. The man is subconsciously asking for retribution.

I know what this article says, but I've read elsewhere that the location is secret for the burial of the ashes, somewhere in Pennsylvania.

Michael didn't want the burial to become a public spectacle, and I don't blame him.

I sincerely pray that Terri's autopsy will reveal either signs of abuse, or evidence that she was not in PVS. A terrible injustice is being done here and these three men cannot get away with it.

Will he go stark raving mad someday?

--- I don't think so. This seems to be the kind of guy who has himself convinced (he is right) and surrounds himself with like-minded folks. He'll go through life calm and cold and gray!

I just pray he gets what he deserves. That's all I will say.

Better to save your prayers for Terri and other innocents.... like the unborn.
