What do you think about this test ?
sorry, the possibility
Technically we are a constitutional republic. The answer, the way it is asked, I think is "Republican" is correct.
Websters says "republican - having the supreme power lying in the body of citizens entitled to vote for officers and representatives responsible to them or characteristic of such government; "the United States shall guarantee to every state in this union a republican form of government"- United States Constitution; "a very republican notion"; "so little republican and so much aristocratic sentiment"- Philip Marsh; "our republican and artistic simplicity"-Nathaniel Hawthorne"
Technically a pure "democratic" form would mean that everything would be decided by referendum; although we are, with our republican form of government a "democracy" - "of the people, by the people, for the people".
Undoubtedly, someone on this forum may disagree with my definitions, but these are generally correct as I understand it.
Thank you - that was one which still has me puzzled and I was afraid to ask the examiner even if he was very kind.
Republican eh? I thought it was a typo the "N" at the end I mean - thought it would be Republic.
Learned something today!
It was on the commercial site of an immigration attorney. This could mean that the attorney is trying to lower the standards of the test or perhaps give the impression that obtaining citizenship is easy.
Thank you for pinging me to this thread.
Very interesting... thanks, paltz!
Please FReepmail me if you want on or off my miscellaneous ping list.
I thought congress met in Los Vegas.... :(
Why bother having a test if it is this simple?
Take the test in link 22 and see if it is so easy
"Doesn't take much to be a citizen, if this test is an indication!
I had hoped the second half of my sentence that you quoted made clear that my sardonic remark was directed at the one page test from the original post, not at the possible reality of actually acheiving citizenship, which I don't believe should be easy.
However, the test linked to post 22 is also easy, or should be for most of us Freepers, anyway.
10 for 10
Quick, call La Migra!
...there are probably very bright first graders that could do that one.
Agreed
