The Bill of Rights is part of Federal law. Any time a state breaks the law they invite the Feds in. This is not a states rights issue.
We heard all this from the pro-deathers already. Move on. Knock up some women and force them to get abortions to sate your blood lust if you must, it's completely legal, but quit preaching.
You'd make a great official in China, those that enforce the one child policy. You'd have a ball drowning the excess children.
Yeah, that 'State's right to starve gimps to death' is one we all need to get behind. /sarcasm
(Denny Crane: "Sometimes you can only look for answers from God and failing that... and Fox News".)
A government that results in the killing of a handicapped woman is a government that has a deep flaw in its construction.
I can't stand uneducated anarchists who call themselves libertarian. It makes me sick.
This hasn't a damned thing to do with States Rights, this has to do with the Murder of an Innocent by an out of control THUG in black robes.
I'd rather be a hypocrite than an accomplice to murder.
I have come to the fixed opinion, that the invocation of the above is almost invariably disingenuous by whomever utters it, and almost always attended by ulterior motives. In Torie's perfect world, there would be no states rights, just prudential agency authority given to the states for prudential reasons. We are one nation now. The states rights notion has typically been attended by mischief, and still is, but now is embarrassingly archaic, sort of like the appendix.

Title 18, U.S.C., Section 242
Deprivation of Rights Under Color of Law
This statute makes it a crime for any person acting under color of law, statute, ordinance, regulation, or custom to willfully deprive or cause to be deprived from any person those rights, privileges, or immunities secured or protected by the Constitution and laws of the U.S.
This law further prohibits a person acting under color of law, statute, ordinance, regulation or custom to willfully subject or cause to be subjected any person to different punishments, pains, or penalties, than those prescribed for punishment of citizens on account of such person being an alien or by reason of his/her color or race.
Acts under "color of any law" include acts not only done by federal, state, or local officials within the bounds or limits of their lawful authority, but also acts done without and beyond the bounds of their lawful authority; provided that, in order for unlawful acts of any official to be done under "color of any law," the unlawful acts must be done while such official is purporting or pretending to act in the performance of his/her official duties. This definition includes, in addition to law enforcement officials, individuals such as Mayors, Council persons, Judges, Nursing Home Proprietors, Security Guards, etc., persons who are bound by laws, statutes ordinances, or customs.
Punishment varies from a fine or imprisonment of up to one year, or both, and if bodily injury results or if such acts include the use, attempted use, or threatened use of a dangerous weapon, explosives, or fire shall be fined or imprisoned up to ten years or both, and if death results, or if such acts include kidnapping or an attempt to kidnap, aggravated sexual abuse or an attempt to commit aggravated sexual abuse, or an attempt to kill, shall be fined under this title, or imprisoned for any term of years or for life, or both, or may be sentenced to death.

I think it has, in recent years, become more of an anti-GOP party than a truly libertarian party.
Mae Magouirk safe for now. See Tekgnosis for further details.

My account, etc. of Terri Schindler's Funeral Mass:
http://tekgnosis.typepad.com
The courts interfere in all kinds of states rights decisions. This was NOT a state's right decision but an unlawful decision made by a rogue judge.
Last I checked, this is a CONSERVATIVE website. What you posted is akin to a Democrat coming on this site and posting a column from the NY Times, touting it's merits.
So Libertarians think it was okay to torture and kill Terri?
States Rights do not supersede LIFE or Liberty. If a state decides to kill its people for no reason someone has to step in.
Oh, please, libertarianben, give us MUCH more of your libertarian wisdom--show us how to get many more dog-catchers and trash commissioners elected. Please show us Arizona Libertarian party members showing up wearing their chaps and six-guns. Please continue to show us how libertarians are sweeping elections all across the country, around the world and into outer space.
.. It'd be hard to say it worse.
