Yes, there are solutions but I will not discuss about them due to its sensitivity. Let me discuss about one of the operations of Al Qaeda supporters. Some Al Qaeda supporters are computer freaks and technology freaks that they monitor the Internet and news source about technology that may have use for the terrorists and by the US Armed Force. I was surprised was that they had a hostage taking manual recommending to take off the watch of the hostages since it may have hidden microphones. This was very shocking for me because watches could have been useful source to collect information and send data about current location of both the hostages and hostage takers. This had discarded watches to be one of the options for device to track location of the hostages due to the Islam terrorist manual recommending to take of watches. Always remember there are Al Qaeda Muslim supporters searching for valuable information, including on the Internet. Rather they are active mebers or not, they will spread the words that will reach Al Qaeda to update their terrorist manual.

A typo all too easy to correct. Your post about the hostage's identity as Ake of Equipment Express looks correct. :(

Apr 13, 2005 — DUBAI (Reuters) - An American contractor taken hostage in Iraq has urged the U.S. government to negotiate with his captors to save his life, according to a video broadcast by Al Jazeera television on Wednesday. The video showed the man, named by the U.S. embassy in Baghdad as Jeffrey Ake from Indiana, holding up his passport as armed and masked insurgents stood at his side.

Ake was seized from the site of a reconstruction project near Baghdad on Monday. It is not known who he was working for.

Al Jazeera said the hostage "urged the U.S. administration to open a dialogue with the Iraqi resistance … to save his life."

He also called on U.S. forces to swiftly withdraw from Iraq, the Arabic television channel said.

Dressed in a light shirt, Ake looked nervous on the video, which showed him behind a desk and reading from a statement.

The group behind the kidnapping was not named and no flag or identifying banner was shown, as has been common in several previous tapes of hostages.

More than 150 foreigners have been kidnapped in Iraq in the past year, either by Muslim militant groups seeking to drive out foreign troops or criminal gangs demanding ransom. About a third of those kidnapped have been killed.

A French journalist, Florence Aubenas, who was kidnapped in January, is still being held by militants, as are three Romanian journalists abducted last month.

Over the past year, Iraqi officials estimate that around 5,000 Iraqis have been kidnapped, most of them by criminal gangs looking to profit from ransoms.

IMHO, given American blood spilled to liberate it and its strategic location as a key to the whole region, America ought to keep military bases in Iraq for the foreseeable future.

After the first 'insurgent' got burned with the chip trick, they'd start carrying around tools to immediately de-chip their captives.

I'm sorry but FU!!!! AND THEN SOME. The Muslim slammed through my front door on this one. I don't know Jeff but we both have little brothers who have been great friends for the past twenty years. My brother worked with their family for 10 years. They are good people, I find your skepticism short sited and selfish. And gross!! Shame on you.

I'm sorry. I was in a panic when I first heard the hostage's name and just found out the horrible news last night who this hostage really was.

I was upset just how quickly our society becomes callus and skeptical. When the first hostage was taken, we heard about it nonstop. Now, barely a mention, as if it's not that big of a deal any more, but it's a big deal to people affected.

I assure you this hostage is a real guy with a real family, not a fake GI Joe. Jeff Ake is 47 and lives in LaPorte, IN. He has a wife, 4 kids, ages 13 to 4, 2 brothers and a sis, a mom and a dad. My family knows this family through my brother, who has been very good friends with Jeff's brother for decades. My brother worked with Jeff for many years.

The chances of Jeff getting out of this are slim. My family and I know this and just stunned and deeply saddened.

I'm sorry about the bad language last night. Anger is a part of what we are feeling but most of our anger is towards the "religion of peace". If you pray, could you please throw one Jeff's way?

No problem.

I have grown skeptical with every report from the terrorists. I don't trust them and they continuously make ridiculous claims that turn out to be untrue.

I am deeply sorry that this has hit so close to home. I will pray for his quick release and his safety.
