It isn't as if smokers do not pay their own way and then some.

Exactly...........and where do the state's go when they need to balance their budgets? To the smokers of course.

I have a letter from the Governor of Delaware in response to requests for changes in the smoking ban there (this was from before I moved) and in it she specifically states she would GLADLY give up every bit of cigarette tax revenue if it meant that everyone had stopped smoking (or somethign like that) - what did she propose a month later? Doubling of the cigarette tax to balance the budget to give state employees a raise without a tax increase...........and she got it.

Here it is 2 years later and she is proposing doing it again - even when the state has a surplus.

>>>>People are getting fatter and having more disease because they don't smoke">>>>>>

LOL! You are really reaching there girl! While it is true that people who quit smoking tend to gain weight, how about the people who get the message and never start smoking? You can't put them into that category. Smoking is not healthy and being a big fatty isn't either.

Do you think they deserve to receive medical treatment for these health problems they brought on themselves because they weren't as strong and disciplined as you are?

This may just have been internet BS, but I read recently that kids born today actually have a lower at-birth life expectancy than the previous generation, due to increased obesity rates...

"...non-smokers have 74% more flatulence...."

And we ALL know that second-hand flatulence causes global warming!!!

It isn't that people are apathetic. It's that they don't care as long as it's somebody else's ox that's being gored. If it's something they care about, they squeal like a stuck pig.

The pot smokers predicted they would come after the legal nicotine smokers and we laughed at them.

You damn betcha. These are exactly the people who will be first to say somebody else needs to die because they are living a life not worth living (lebensunswertes leben).

You have to understand, my friend, that is EXACTLY the logic used by the anti-anything nannyists.

It is truly a stretch of the imagination, but exactly the tactic being used, first against smokers, now about weight, and who knows what else it will be used against next.

"and liberalism is a dangerous mental disorder"

No one would want to live like that. I think the judges should begin authorizing removing their feeding tubes.

The pot smokers predicted they would come after the legal nicotine smokers and we laughed at them.

I never laughed at them - I knew they were right, even 25 years ago.

I got fed up with a majority of them who were pushing for the tobacco smoking bans "so you know how we feel." I know one sanctimonious pothead who insisted cigarette smokers take them outside and not smoke in the house because of her daughter (mind you daddy was among those who had to go outside) and then would proceed to light a joint with the child in the next room.

IMO pot should be treated like alcohol........but that's not my fight, my fight is to keep tobacco from being treated like pot.

Actually, better yet, Judge Greer's order was for the removal of all nutrition and hydration. His order never even mentioned a feeding tube.

The difference as I see it is that the big fatty can eat all the Big Macs that he pleases and except that I have to avert my eyes to not look at his belly rolls, it doesn't affect me at all. The smoker, on the other hand kicks off my asthma. That is a huge difference. ;9)
