Minuteman Project to issue major planning statement - Organizers reviewing project's future, direction

April 17, 2005 (Tombstone, AZ)---On Monday, April 18, organizers of the Minuteman Project will be issuing a major statement on the immediate and long-term direction of the project.

Rumors have been circulating that the project might cut short its originally planned month-long monitoring of a 23 mile section of the Arizona-Mexican border by citizen volunteers. The project's cofounders, Chris Simcox and Jim Gilchrist, said it would be a mistake to think the border will be abandoned. "However, our overwhelming early successes along with more recent developments have caused us to review how best to direct the project the rest of the month and beyond, " Simcox said.

The project has generated national-indeed, worldwide-attention and controversy. President Bush alluded to the project's volunteers as "vigilantes." Congressman Tom Tancredo (R-CO), Chairman of the Congressional Immigration Reform Caucus and an outspoken critic of the president's immigration policies, said the volunteers were "heroes in my book." Tancredo has invited the leaders of the project to travel to Washington DC and report on the project to the members of his caucus.

Project organizers said they have been deluged with messages of support along with requests from citizens of the other border states to organize similar Projects in those states. Gilchrist said all issues would be addressed on Monday. The statement will be issued at 12:30pm in Tombstone from the office of the Tombstone Tumbleweed newspaper, 312 Toughnut Street.

Well, just how far can one stretch less than a hundred guys for what, two weekends?

Except for the hyperbole the rethinking will go into how to pretend that they have done anything other than make fools of themselves and tank tancredo...

"How about showing a fence down the St.Lawrence River and for good measure just a snow fence from Vermont to Maine."

B. Easily done with th 80,000 felon illegals, the fence that is.
The illegals would really enjoy doing it in November.

A. How are the coasts guarded now?
I seem to have forgot where the coast is in Arizona.

Dont need no stinkin strawberry pickers.

You can make a lot of jam with one of those. Pretty messy shortcake though.

Give it up and go home.

It has been pointed out to your crowd for months now that protesting at the Arizona border only is a clear case of anti-Mexican hoo-haw and you should be ashamed of yourselves. Pretending you are protecting the borders from terrorists is just nonsense. Calling it an invasion is cute but not true. You guys tanked tancredo which is a good thing. Now, take some time off and pretend you are a valiant protector of America when you have done nothing but blow smoke.

The quislings want to paint it as if Tancredo turned against the MMP and wants it shut down, or that public support has turned against it, or a whole bunch of other stupid lies. Don't fall for it.

Thank you, my faith is restored. Hope Ben is reading this since he did post on here that Tancredo asked them to stop.

I guess that's what you call "spin". I don't like it, it's not truthful.

Exactly. You are not going to convince these people that they should pay fair market value for their landscaping.

I cannot give personal experience on what people think about the MMP in my California location.

I am however astounded at the number of people who connect health care problems (never ending increases in costs for example) with ILLEGAL aliens.

Everyone I talk to is aware and affected. These are people who mostly watch TV entertainers pretending to be reporters.

Despite the state budget problems not a word about the ILLEGAL aliens connection, that I've heard, from the Governor, mainline Republicans or their Democrat brothers and sisters, and certainly not from California's tightly controlled MSM (though I do not monitor it).

No matter how important taxpayer-subsidized labor is for mainline Republicans and no matter how important millions and millions of "clients" are for the Democrats' welfare industry the public has had it. IMO.

MMP could well come to mean the Minuteman Party attracting all but mainline Republicans and mainline Democrats.

Do you have a link? I can imagine the crack PR team at MMP is busy writing that the water was contaminated by the mech13 and they were just saving lives.

Not ashamed at all. since when should the USA become a dumping ground for the Third world's unwanted? I say Put A 50% tax on every doller sent to Mexico and fence the border

Jeez, I thought your ACLU and Sierra Club friends would do a better job of protecting the environment than allowing your observers just to come down to the border and smoke pot.

If the water was on private property; the owner is at liberty to do with it as they wish.

Tancedo has been an outspoken opponent of The Invasion for a long time.

Rove threw him out of the WH shortly after the 2000 election, and warned Tom Tancredo "to never darken the door of the White House again". That was done in reponse to Tom unwaivering stand against illegals. He's earned our respect.
