Robert Byrd Attempts to Re-Write Filibuster History (Novak rips Byrd on hypocrisy)
The National Ledger ^ | April 21, 2005 | Robert Novak

Posted on 04/21/2005 5:39:17 AM PDT by Coastal

While re-inventing himself at age 87 in his 47th year as a senator, Robert C. Byrd has denied his clear past use of parliamentary maneuver to force majority rule in the Senate. That fits the broader phenomenon of Democrats reinventing the senatorial filibuster, historically notorious for protecting racial segregation, into a weapon of liberalism.

Byrd's use of a simple majority rule to make Senate rules fit the wishes of dominant Democrats during the 1970s and 1980s was revealed by legal scholars in January. It took Byrd's lawyers until March 20 for him to claim he did not do what he did. In fact, there is no doubt Byrd led the Democrats in championing majority rights when they had a majority.

Huck wants us to emulate Beorthnoth and invite the Democommies across the causeway "for a fair fight". I prefer to keep the poisonous snakes at arm's length, myself. ;-)

And this is where you are totally wrong. Letting them across the causeway is what the GOP has been doing and continues to do. Remember when we "shared" the majority? That was the GOP letting them across. This ongoing debate that never ends? Letting them across. Granted, it's probably out of fear, not hubris, but the end result is the same. You, and the GOP Senate, are too feckless to do anything. Maybe they should take up reading obscure fantasy poems. You don't keep a poisonous snake at arms length. You kill it.

I guess El Rushbo doesn't read Hobbit poems either:

Rush: "I don't know what to say. This is utter incompetence."

Those who don't know s**t are condemned to live it.

Rush is an entertainer, and you're a buffoon. I'll wait for CBB's predition to come to pass.

Enough with the KKK bullcrap already. Byrd has time and time again repudiated his youthful indiscretion's. At the time he was simply a product of his environment. Byrd is now one of the most revered and respected men in congress. He is truely the "Conscience of the Senate".

And you are truly a troll. The three remarks you have made in your short time here are all of the troll variety.
