Pray for President Bush - Day 1683

Psalm 59:17

To You, O my Strength, I will sing praises;
For God is my defense,
My God of mercy.

TOPICS: Culture/Society
KEYWORDS: military; pray; prayer; prayforbushlist; presidentbush; troops
Heavenly Father,

We come before You once again, lifting up our voices in praise to You, grateful for Your boundless mercy. We confess our sins, O Lord, and thank You for Your eternal love, great enough to sacrifice Your only begotten Son to pay the price for our transgressions. Because of Him, we have the assurance of our salvation and we can have fellowship with You, our Creator. Lord, we can never repay a debt so great but we humbly offer our lives to You, asking You to mould us into the persons You would have us be that we might play a small part in expanding Your Kingdom here on earth.

Lord, we continue in prayer for our President. We are grateful that today's incident was a false alarm but it has reminded us vividly that he has many enemies and is in constant danger. Hold him close to Your heart, O Lord, and protect him from those who wish him harm. Place Your wisdom within him that he may lead our nation according to Your will. Fill him with courage, patience, discernment, steadfastness, and love as he fulfills the duties set before him. We thank You for our First Lady, a woman of extraordinary grace and inner beauty whose radiance reflects her love for You.

Father, our military are always in our hearts and we know that they are always under Your watchful care. We pray for their safety and for their success in finding those who seek to destroy the newly-won freedom in parts of the world that have known only brutal oppression for generations. Lord, You know where the enemy lurks; reveal his hiding places to those who desire to bring peace.

Lord, there is a great spiritual battle waging in our nation and the current arena is in politics. There are those who do not have right on their side so they participate in character destruction and in the obstruction of our governmental processes. Though we can rant with words, only You can change hearts. We plead with You to move in our nation that civil discourse may return. Let us return to a time when issues are debated and not personalities and when those who govern seek the best interest of the governed rather than their own power and control. Forgive us, O Lord, and redeem our people so that our nation once again honors Your commmandments and seeks to please You. In the Name of Jesus. Amen.

AMEN KAYAK AND AMEN ALL!

O Lord,

I live here as a fish in a vessel of water,

only enough to keep me alive,

but in heaven I shall swim in the ocean.

Here I have a little air in me to keep me breathing,

but there I shall have sweet and fresh gales;

Here I have a beam of sun to lighten my darkness,

a warm ray to keep me from freezing;

yonder I shall live in light and warmth for ever.

My natural desires are corrupt and misguided,

and it is thy mercy to destroy them;

My spiritual longings are of thy planting,

and thou wilt water and increase them;

Quicken my hunger and thirst after

the realm above.

Here I can have the world,

there I shall have thee in Christ;

Here is a life of longing and prayer,

there is assurance without suspicion,

asking without refusal;

Here are gross comforts, more burden

than benefit,

there is joy without sorrow,

comfort without suffering,

love without inconstancy,

rest without weariness.

Give me to know that heaven is all love,

where the eye affects the heart,

and the continual viewing of thy beauty

keeps the soul in continual transports

of delight.

Give me to know that heaven is all peace,

where error, pride, rebellion, passion

raise no head.

Give me to know that heaven is all joy,

the end of believing, fasting, praying,

mourning, humbling, watching,

fearing, repining;

And lead me to it soon.

A PURITANS PRAYER

"God, even our own God."
- Psalm 67:6

It is strange how little use we make of the spiritual blessings which God
gives us, but it is stranger still how little use we make of God himself.
Though he is "our own God," we apply ourselves but little to him, and ask
but little of him. How seldom do we ask counsel at the hands of the Lord!
How often do we go about our business, without seeking his guidance! In
our troubles how constantly do we strive to bear our burdens ourselves,
instead of casting them upon the Lord, that he may sustain us! This is not
because we may not, for the Lord seems to say, "I am thine, soul, come and
make use of me as thou wilt; thou mayst freely come to my store, and the
oftener the more welcome." It is our own fault if we make not free with
the riches of our God. Then, since thou hast such a friend, and he invites
thee, draw from him daily. Never want whilst thou hast a God to go to;
never fear or faint whilst thou hast God to help thee; go to thy treasure
and take whatever thou needest-there is all that thou canst want. Learn
the divine skill of making God all things to thee. He can supply thee with
all, or, better still, he can be to thee instead of all. Let me urge thee,
then, to make use of thy God. Make use of him in prayer. Go to him often,
because he is thy God. O, wilt thou fail to use so great a privilege? Fly
to him, tell him all thy wants. Use him constantly by faith at all times.
If some dark providence has beclouded thee, use thy God as a "sun;" if
some strong enemy has beset thee, find in Jehovah a "shield," for he is a
sun and shield to his people.
If thou hast lost thy way in the mazes of life, use him as a "guide," for
he will direct thee.
Whatever thou art, and wherever thou art, remember God is just what thou
wantest, and just where thou wantest, and that he can do all thou wantest.

Amen, Kayak.

Yes, Lord, grant our President sufficient grace for all that he faces. Give him more protection for more danger, more truth for more lies, more health for more physical attacks, more wisdom for more deceit, more love that never fails for more hatred, more faith for more fears.

You are able to do exceeding abundantly beyond all that we ask or think and we are grateful.

In the name of our Savior, Jesus the anointed One. Amen.

"May the Sacred Heart of Jesus be adored, glorified, loved and preserved throughout the world now and forever Amen."

We continue to pray for our President Bush, to keep him safe from all harm, physical or spiritual....In these foreboding times when attacks are being made on all peoples of the world, because of their belief in You, our Savior...May You have mercy on them, somehow, someway may they see the error of their ways. Open their ears so that they may truly hear the innuendoes of their criticism against qualified men and women for positions in our Courts ..to see the havoc they create, and allowing our great Justice system to appear as a mockery in front of the world....Forgive us our transgressions, may we always turn to You, for solace...In Jesus' name we pray
