Many Hispanic activists, Mexican citizens and perhaps even members of the Mexican government believe the American Southwest rightfully belongs to Mexico.
They refuse to accept the legality of the U.S. annexation of Texas in 1845, the 1848 Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo following the Mexican-American War, which gave large parts of Mexico to the U.S., or the 1852 Gadsden Purchase of Mexican territory now in Arizona and New Mexico. Story Continues Below
A Zogby poll found that 58 percent of Mexicans agreed with the statement, "The territory of the Southwest U.S. rightfully belongs to Mexico," and therefore they believe they don't need permission to enter. In 1997, then-Mexican President Ernesto Zedillo told the National Council of La Raza in Chicago: "I have proudly affirmed that the Mexican nation extends beyond the territory enclosed by its borders."
And current President Vincente Fox "repeated this line during a 2001 visit to the U.S., when he called for open borders and endorsed Mexico's new dual citizenship law," according to Investor's Business Daily.
Activist Charles Trujillo, a professor at the University of New Mexico, predicts that a new Hispanic nation will be formed within this century, encompassing much of the American Southwest and part of northern Mexico.
He says U.S. states have the right to secede under our original Articles of Confederation, and this will occur in the future when several Southwest states have Hispanic majorities.
The Hispanic student activist group MECHa (a Spanish acronym for Chicano Student Movement of Aztlan) claims that Texas, California, Arizona, New Mexico and southern Colorado were stolen by the U.S. and should be returned to the people of Mexico, under the name "Nation of Aztlan."
Aztlan is the mythical original home of the Aztec people.
Some Californians seem to think that Los Angeles has already been "returned" to the Mexican people. As NewsMax.com reported in April, billboards touting a Spanish-language TV news program showed two newscasters in front of the L.A. skyline, with "Los Angeles, Mexico" printed above.
The billboards angered groups fighting illegal immigration. Stuart Fischoff, who teaches media psychology at California State-Los Angeles, told the L.A. Times: "The joke here is, ‘We're taking back California.' Underneath the joke is part of the truth."
But I'm sure the fantasy warms the heart of the Mexican intelligentsia.

Regardless of your opinion of the Bush Administration, it's ridiculous to think that any American administration wouldn't retaliate against an obvious attack upon the US.

Texas is rather unique, in that Texas was an independant country before joining the USA. As a result, Texas had the ability to press for several conditions prior to joining the USA. For example, our state flag flies at EQUAL height to the US Flag. The Texas capital building is BIGGER than then the National Capitol building. Texas reserves the right to secede, or to split itself into 3 smaller states; and the Federal gov't doesn't get voice in this decision.

The palestinians were able to make up stuff and now they have a "country" to demand.
If anything, the UN will start to demand we surrender land for the mexican homeland and then other nations will say our refusal is a human rights violation.

Why would anyone be proud of being the descendents of the Aztecs? Why they built nice stuff, they still sacrificed human beings by cutting their hearts out while they were still alive!
Even though I am personally opposed to "giving back" anything that Mexicans still think is their's, I might go along with certain parts of the Los Angeles area, Santa Fe and other liberal enclaves but that would only be if the illegals left the rest of the country alone (sort of like how Israel is giving up outposts, while fencing Palestinians out of their territory.)

To understand Mexico, it is necessary to view the nation's long early history. Hundreds of years ago, the Indians of Mexico built large cities, developed a calendar, invented a counting system, and used a form of writing. The last Indian empire in Mexico--that of the Aztec--fell to Spanish invaders in 1521. For the next 300 years, Mexico was a Spanish colony. The Spaniards took Mexico's riches, and the Indians remained poor and uneducated.

According to www.AmericanPatrol.com I have read they expect there will have to be a war to put them back in their place.
There is also another book out by Weinberger called "The Next War" and they claim it will be with Mexico. Book has been out for a while.
