Shouting "Koran Desecration" in a crowded Theater
Dear FoxNews Watch:
Newsweek's "apology" says that its information about flushing a Quran down a toilet came from "a knowledgeable U.S. government source." This is no different thatn shouting "fire" in a crowded theater resulting 16 dead and hundreds wounded. A government employee unnamed source, (knowingly or otherwise) spread anti-american proganda that resulted directly in numerous deaths and hospitalizations.
We should investigate to see if any laws were broken, and, at the very least, his/her identity should be revealed so neither the media nor the American troops ever trust this person again.

Two weeks ago, in our issue dated May 9, Michael Isikoff and John Barry reported in a brief item in our Periscope section that U.S. military investigators had found evidence that American guards at the detention center in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, had committed infractions in trying to get terror suspects to talk, including in one case flushing a Qur'an down a toilet. Their information came from a knowledgeable U.S. government source . . .

I read an article a couple of days ago that speculated that the riots weren't because of the Newsweak article but rather were about some action that Kharzi had taken.
Should Newsweek's source should be arrested?
Yes also be tarred & feathered and forced to bob for tots.
Beyond the current desecration outrage, the students in Kabul were also engaged in other political issues, demanding that the Afghan government deny permanent military bases to the US. They said the creation of permanent US military bases would threaten the independence of Afghanistan. The demands come only days after US-backed Afghan President Hamid Karzai got green light from more than 1,000 tribal elders and officials to go ahead with a partnership with the US that would most likely include the creation of permanent US military bases in the country. Putting a new spin on the protests, Karzai used the riots in Jalalabad on Wednesday to justify a permanent US presence, saying that the violence illustrated Afghanistans inability to deal with security threats on its own. Karzai commented on the events during a news conference at NATO headquarters in Brussels, RFE/RL reported. The [protest] event this morning shows two things, he said. One, that Afghanistan is a democratic state. Two, that Afghanistan, as [a] democratic state, is not yet ready with institutions to handle [the protest]. The specifically anti-American nature of the protests could jeopardize plans in Kabul and Washington to use Afghanistan as a permanent base for increasing US influence in Central Asia and the Middle East, containing Russian and Chinese influence in the region, and encircling Iran.

I could not agree more. For Newsweek, in its deliberate hostility to the Bush administration, it became too easy for them to believe this story without checking it out thoroughly first. But it's also obvious that these Muslim clerics wanted to incite riots and used the Newsweek article as the trigger.
I'm sure the rioters did not think of this since most of them have never seen a flush toilet. When they heard the story they undoubtedly visualized an outhouse.
It needs to be noted that NewsWeak is now, officially responsible for more deaths than Lindie Englund and all the guards at Abu Garib prison - combined.
Chunky carrot bases also will not go down. My ex-husband was up to his armpit, literally, in poop once when our toilet overflowed. Dis-gusting. My son never did that again.
The wisdom of mothers cannot be overpraised.
But whoever is responsible has given aid and comfort to the enemy in time of war.
I don't think the source is as responsible for this as Newsweek.
The source can always render an opinion or their view of a matter. It was the job of the reporters and Newsweek to verify this whole thing before anything went to print.
I think that because many have died due to Newsweek's lack of professionalism in journalism, that the government should pull their business license now and for good.
They can never bring back the dead, and Newsweek should never be allowed to do this again, even by accident.
Take away Newsweek's license to be in business and close them down.
