One of the most-watched pageants on planet earth, the Miss Universe contest for year 2005 will be held on May 30, 2005 in Bangkok, Thailand.
About one billion TV viewers are expected to watch this year's event. The event will be telecast live and will be carried by many stations all over the World. It is best to check your local listing to make sure you don't miss this event.
The bicentennial city of Bangkok is known as the City of Angels and is rapidly becoming one of the premiere fashion capitals of the world. The city is also home to many ancient canals, which once afforded Bangkok the title âVenice of the East.â
"The officials we met with in Thailand showed great enthusiasm at the prospect of hosting the three week event. After the tragic tsunami of December 26th, all discussions were put on hold out of respect for the country and the Thai people. In recent weeks the Thai Government and the other entities involved returned to us, certain of their desire to host the Pageant, its contestants and their families and friends. We are honored and look forward to the privilege of helping Thailand as it begins to rebuild its tourism industry. We have told Minister Kunplome that he has our full support, said Paula M. Shugart, President of the Miss Universe Organization.
Of course, Miss Lebanon will be competing in this event. Her name is Nadine Njeim . We were able to get these pictures from bangkok of Miss Lebanon and some of her friends, courtesy of AFP and Reuters to share with our readers.

Very nice
I enjoyed their jokes.
You're trying to shoot career-making photos. There are houses and people swirling around you, some disappearing under the water. Nature is unleashing all of its destructive fury. Suddenly you see a man floundering in the water. He is fighting for his life, trying not to be taken down with the debris.
You move closer... somehow the man looks familiar. You suddenly realize who it is. It's General Emile Lahoud himself! At the same time you notice that the raging waters are about to take him under... forever.
You have two options:
1) You can save the life of Emile Lahoud, or
2) You can shoot a dramatic Pulitzer Prize winning photo, documenting the death of one of Lebanon's most powerful men.
So here's the question, and please give an honest answer:
Would you select high contrast color film, or would you go with the classic simplicity of black and white?

I think we should invite Miss Lebanon and her fellow contestants to come and give speeches to the FReepers in Las Vegas July 29-31 on the themes of freedom and democracy.
And there's no need for an extensive clothing budget - they can come to the podium dressed the way they are in the photo. ;)

I think you can find a lot about a country by their humor.
Jokes are on the lower part of source URL.
A lot of the jokes are anti Syria.
